So, I was flipping channels the other day, landed on some wrestling thing. And there was Rhea Ripley. Can’t miss her, right? The look, the way she carries herself. Got me thinking. Not about wrestling, really. More about, you know, just feeling a bit stronger, a bit more solid.

Getting Started
First thing I did was just poke around online. Typed in her name, maybe “workout” or something. Saw a lot of stuff, mostly fans guessing or trainers breaking down potential exercises. Nothing official, looked like. Didn’t want anything nuts. Just needed a nudge, a starting point.
I decided to keep it simple. What looks tough? Lifting heavy stuff, basically. So I thought, okay, I’ll try some basic strength moves. Stuff I already kinda knew but never really stuck with.
- Deadlifts – but like, baby weights. Seriously, just the bar at first.
- Some kind of overhead press. For the shoulders.
- Rows. Good for the back, people say.
- Maybe some squats. Everyone says squats.
The Actual Trying Part
Went down to the local gym. Felt a bit silly, honestly. Middle-aged me, trying to get inspired by some powerhouse wrestler. Found a quiet corner. Picked up the weights. Felt heavier than I remembered.
Man, it was tough going. Not the weights themselves, not really. More the… doing it. Consistently. First day, fine. Second day, bit sore. Third day, really sore. Wanted to skip. Nearly did.
Forced myself to go back. Did less. Focused on just moving, getting the form kind of right. Watched some videos on my phone between sets. Felt like I was getting somewhere, slowly. Like pushing a heavy door open, inch by inch.
What I Reckon Now
Here’s the thing I realized after a few weeks of trying this on and off. It wasn’t really about Rhea Ripley’s specific workout. Couldn’t tell you what she actually does. It was just the spark, the idea.
It’s like that time I decided I was gonna learn coding after watching some tech documentary. Bought a book, stared at it for a week, never opened it again. Total waste.
This time felt a tiny bit different. Maybe because it’s physical. You feel it the next day. Reminds you that you actually did something.
The real work isn’t fancy. It’s just showing up. Picking the thing up, putting it down. Again and again. Rhea Ripley, or whoever, they’re just the face that gets you thinking. The rest is just boring, repetitive effort. That’s the bit they don’t put in the highlights.
So yeah, still doing bits and pieces. Haven’t magically transformed or anything. Still get sore. Still have days I’d rather just sit on the sofa. But I managed to start something. And sometimes, just starting is the hardest part. Got me moving, at least. That’s probably the point.
