Well, let me tell you about that 2001 Colorado football team, ya hear? It was a real hootenanny, that season was.
First off, them Colorado Buffaloes, they had a schedule that would make your head spin. Games all over the place, mornin’, noon, and night. I remember seein’ somethin’ about them playin’ Oklahoma State on a Friday, ten in the mornin’! Who plays football at ten in the mornin’? Crazy, I tell ya, just crazy.
Now, this team, they had a bunch of young fellas, all shapes and sizes. The 2001 football roster was longer than my grocery list, and that’s sayin’ somethin’! Coaches too, lots of ’em. Yellin’ and stompin’ their feet, tryin’ to get them boys to play right.
And wouldn’t you know it, they even made it to the Big 12 Championship Game! Played it on December 1st, 2001. Big game, lots of hoopla. Don’t rightly remember if they won or not, my memory ain’t what it used to be, but it was a big deal, that’s for sure.
Them boys kept track of all sorts of things, you know, statistics and such. How many yards they ran, how many points they scored, all that jazz. They got whole pages of it, probably kept some fella busy for a month just writin’ it all down. Stuff like game logs and splits, whatever that means.
- They had somethin’ called NCAA Football Colorado Buffaloes, I guess that’s the league they played in.
- And they talked about the University of Colorado Football 2001, that’s the school, right?
- And that 2001 Football Roster, that’s all the players, I reckon.
- Heard tell of some fella named Brandon Drumm, maybe he was a player, maybe a coach, who knows. Folks sure talked about him though.
Now, them Buffaloes, they been playin’ football for a long, long time. Started way back in 1890, can you believe it? They played in all sorts of bowl games, won a bunch of conference championships and even a national championship back in 1990. Big stuff, real big stuff.
I remember hearin’ about one game where they won 67 to 9. Beat the other team to a pulp, I reckon. They said it was the 2,370th unique score in college football history! Imagine that, 2,370 different scores. Who comes up with these things? Must be some smart fellas.
So, that 2001 Colorado football season, it was somethin’ else. Lots of games, lots of players, lots of excitement. Win or lose, them boys played their hearts out, and that’s all you can ask for, ain’t it? They gave folks somethin’ to cheer about, somethin’ to talk about, and that’s what matters, I guess.
It’s funny how you remember bits and pieces, ya know? Like, I recall seein’ somethin’ about buyin’ tickets for the games. Cost a pretty penny, I bet. And they talked about viewin’ the roster in different ways, list view, card view, table view… Sounded mighty fancy to me. But at the end of the day, it was just football, plain and simple. Boys runnin’ around, throwin’ a ball, tryin’ to score. And folks like me, we just sat back and watched, and maybe hollered a little bit now and then.
They had somethin’ called “Stathead” too. Sounded like a place you could go to get all them numbers and such. Said it was ad-free, so I guess that’s a good thing. Nobody likes them pesky ads poppin’ up all the time.
And them results, well, they mattered a lot. Winning was better than losin’, that’s for sure. But even when they lost, them boys held their heads high, and that’s what I liked about ‘em. They were tough, they were determined, and they gave it their all. That’s what Colorado football is all about, I reckon.
So there you have it, my take on the 2001 Colorado football season. Not the prettiest story, maybe, but it’s the truth as I remember it. Just a bunch of boys playing a game, and folks like me watchin’ and cheerin’ ’em on. Good times, good times.
