Okay, so I wanted to make this Charlie Brown hat, you know, the yellow one with the black zig-zag? I started by looking around the house for some yellow fabric. Found an old t-shirt that I never wear anymore, perfect! I cut that up into a big circle, guessing at the size. It wasn’t perfect, but hey, it’s a hat.
Then came the tricky part, the black zig-zag. I didn’t have any black fabric, so I grabbed some black electrical tape. I know, I know, not exactly sewing, but it works! I started cutting out triangles and sticking them around the edge of the yellow circle. It was kind of tedious, but I kept at it.
Getting It On My Head
- First, I tried just plopping the circle on my head. Nope, way too flat.
- Then I thought, “maybe if I fold it?” So I folded it in half, like a taco. Still not quite right.
- Finally, I had this idea to kind of bunch it up and pin it in the back. I used some safety pins for this.
And there it was! My very own, slightly wonky, Charlie Brown hat. It wasn’t perfect, the tape was a bit crinkly, and the shape was a little off, but you know what? I made it, and I was pretty darn proud of myself. Wore it around the house for a bit, feeling like a cartoon character. Good grief, it was fun!
