Okay, so I’ve been trying to get into puzzles lately, you know, something to keep my mind sharp. And I stumbled upon this thing called a “baseball positions crossword.” Sounded kinda cool, mixing my love for baseball with a bit of brain-teasing. I’m no crossword expert, mind you, but I figured, why not give it a shot?

First, I had to find one. So I just did the laziest thing I can do, googling things. I found a bunch of crossword puzzles. I’m not sure if it’s the right one, I just picked one, the easiest to do, the one with least boxes.
Getting Started (and Getting Stuck)
I printed out the crossword ’cause I’m old school like that. I like to have a physical copy in front of me. Grabbed a pencil (with a good eraser, I anticipated many mistakes). Looked at the clues, and… yeah, blank stare. Some of them were super obvious, like “The player who throws the ball to the batter.” Easy peasy, “Pitcher,” right? I confidently wrote that in.
But then, things got tricky. I mean, “The position between second and third base”? My mind went completely blank for a second. I know the positions, I watch the games, but under pressure, my brain just froze. After staring at it, I remember its the “Shortstop”. Phew, wrote down it.
Little Victories
It was a slow process, I’ll admit. I’d get one, then be stuck on three others. I had to do some serious thinking, recalling games I’ve watched, trying to visualize the field in my head. Each time I filled in a word, it felt like a mini-triumph. Like, “Yes! I am not completely clueless about baseball!” It’s a weird kind of satisfaction, I gotta say.
Finish Line
Took me a while, much longer than I expected. The last one, I just did a quick google search. After all the struggle, I filled every box. Looking back, it was a fun experience. Will I do it again? Absolutely. It’s like a workout for your brain, and you get to think about baseball. What’s not to like?
