So, I was chilling on my couch last night, and I got this random urge to watch some wrestling. I have not watched wrestling for a long time. Not just any wrestling, though – I wanted to dive into WrestleMania. But then a question popped into my head: “How long is WrestleMania, anyway?” I mean, we are talking about the granddaddy of them all, the showcase of the immortals, so it’s gotta be a pretty big deal, right?
First things first, I grabbed my phone and did what any normal person would do – I Googled it. Typed in “how long is WrestleMania” and started scrolling through the results. It seemed easy enough, but man, was I in for a surprise.
Digging Through the Results
The first few links were all about the recent WrestleMania. Sure, it gave me some times, but it was not what I was looking for. I wanted the full scoop. I kept scrolling and found some forums where people were debating about it. Some folks said it used to be shorter, like around 3 hours, back in the day. Others were talking about how it’s gotten longer over the years, sometimes stretching to over 5 hours, not counting the pre-show!
Crunching the Numbers
After a while, I realized I had to get a little more organized. I decided to focus on the recent WrestleMania events, like from the past five years. I started noting down the event lengths, trying to find a pattern. It was kinda all over the place, but here’s what I found:
- WrestleMania 35: This one was a beast! It went on for about 5 hours and 24 minutes, main show only. Add the pre-show, and we’re talking over 7 and a half hours.
- WrestleMania 36: This one was weird because of the whole pandemic thing. It was split into two nights, each running for about 2.5 to 3 hours. So, around 5 to 6 hours total, give or take.
- WrestleMania 37: Another two-nighter. Each night was a bit over 3 hours, so again, we’re looking at around 6 to 7 hours in total.
- WrestleMania 38: Same deal, two nights. Around 3.5 to 4 hours each night, pushing the total to about 7 to 8 hours.
- WrestleMania 39: You guessed it, two nights. Both were roughly 3 to 3.5 hours, so the whole shebang was about 6 to 7 hours.
Putting It All Together
So, what did I learn from this little research project? Well, WrestleMania is a marathon, not a sprint. In recent years, they have really embraced the two-night format, which seems to make it more manageable. But even then, you are looking at a solid 6 to 8 hours of wrestling action, not even counting the pre-show stuff.
Back in the earlier days, it was shorter, but now, it’s a whole different ball game. I guess with so many matches, storylines, and the whole spectacle of it, they need that much time to pack it all in.
Anyway, that’s my story of figuring out the length of WrestleMania. It was a fun little dive into the world of wrestling, and it definitely made me appreciate the scale of the event. If you are planning to watch it, make sure you have got plenty of snacks and maybe clear your schedule for a good chunk of the weekend. It is quite the commitment, but hey, it’s WrestleMania – it is supposed to be epic!
