Alright, so, I tried out this “floored crossword” thing today. Let me tell you, it was a ride. It’s basically a crossword puzzle, but the grid is all wonky, like it’s been broken up into pieces and then kind of… smooshed back together.
I started by just staring at it. You know that feeling when you look at something and your brain just goes, “Nope, not today”? That was me. Then I figured, okay, let’s just look at the clues.
- I scanned the whole list, trying to find something I knew.
- Then I spotted a clue that seemed doable, a three-letter word.
- It’s like a tiny life raft in a sea of confusion.
I found a spot in the grid where those three letters might fit, and I just went for it. Once I had that first word in, it was like a tiny crack of light. Suddenly, other words started to make a little more sense. I filled in another word, then another. It was slow going, I am not gonna lie. I spent a good chunk of the morning just working on a few clues. It is definitely not a race. I kept going back and forth, filling in a letter here, a word there. The grid is so weird that sometimes you think you know where a word goes, but then you realize it just doesn’t work.
It’s kind of like building with LEGOs, but someone took your instruction manual and ran it through a blender. You have to figure out where the pieces go based on the few shapes that make sense. I spent a good chunk of time erasing and rewriting stuff. Then it’s like a light bulb moment! I suddenly saw how a bunch of words connected, and I filled in a whole section of the grid.
Eventually, after much struggle and lots of scribbling, I finally finished it! I’m not gonna say it was easy. It was tough, but I have to say, finishing it felt pretty darn good.
What I learned
For any of you thinking of trying this, just know, it’s not for the faint of heart. But if you stick with it, the feeling of finally cracking the code is totally worth it. It’s like, you challenged your brain to a duel, and you actually won!
