Okay, so I was watching some golf highlights the other day, and the RBC Heritage popped up. You know, the one at Harbour Town with the lighthouse. Cool tournament. Anyway, it got me thinking, especially with all these new event types the PGA Tour has now.

My Question
The big question that hit me was: do they actually make a cut at the RBC Heritage? I know most regular tournaments chop the field down after Friday, usually top 65 guys and ties get to play the weekend. But this Heritage thing is one of those fancy “Signature Events” now, right? And I heard some of those don’t have a cut at all. So, I wasn’t sure.
Digging In
My first instinct was, yeah, probably has a cut. But that “Signature Event” tag made me pause. I remember the first couple of big ones this year, like the Sentry, didn’t have a cut. Smaller fields, guaranteed money, all that jazz. Made sense.
So, I figured I better actually check instead of just guessing. Went online, you know, just did a quick search. Typed in something like “RBC Heritage cut rule” or “does Harbour Town have a cut this year”.
Got a mix of stuff back. News reports, player interviews. Skimmed through a few. Lots of talk about the “Signature Event” status and the field size. Saw some conflicting bits at first – some places just saying “Signature Events are no cut”, others being more specific.
Getting Clearer
Then I found a couple of articles that broke it down better. They pointed out that not all Signature Events are the same when it comes to the cut. It depends on the field size.
- Events with really small fields (like 50-60 guys): Generally, no cut.
- Events with slightly larger fields (around 70-80 guys): These can have a cut.
Okay, that made more sense. The RBC Heritage usually has more players than the Sentry, for example. So where does it fit?
The Answer
Had to look specifically for the RBC Heritage rules for this year. And bingo, found it. Because the Heritage has a field of around 70-something players, it falls into that second category.
So, yes, there is definitely a cut at the RBC Heritage.

But here’s the interesting part I found: it’s not the standard cut rule. For these specific Signature Events like the Heritage, the cut is:
- Top 50 players and ties after 36 holes.
- Plus, anyone else who is within 10 shots of the lead after 36 holes.
So, it’s a bit different from the usual Top 65 & ties. Good to know! It’s kinda confusing keeping track of all these different formats these days, but hey, figured it out. Glad I took a minute to look it up instead of just assuming.
