So, I saw Drew McIntyre on the telly again the other night. Guy’s massive, isn’t he? Proper wrestler build. It got me thinking about something my wife said a while back, completely out of the blue.

We weren’t even watching wrestling then, I think I was just scrolling through some news feed on my phone. She glanced over my shoulder, saw a picture of him, and just went, “Oh, it’s the angry Scotsman.” Simple as that. Not his name, just “the angry Scotsman.”
I kinda chuckled and asked her, “You mean Drew McIntyre?”
And she just shrugged, like, “Yeah, him. The one who always looks like he’s about to headbutt someone. Mostly himself, maybe.” Which, honestly, made me laugh out loud. It wasn’t mean-spirited, just her way of seeing things. She doesn’t follow wrestling much, just catches bits when I have it on.
Her Observations
It’s funny the things people pick up on when they’re not deep into something. She doesn’t care about the storylines or the championships. She just sees:
- Big fellas yelling
- Shiny belts
- Lots of jumping
- Apparently, specific levels of Scottish anger
So, yeah. Drew McIntyre. To me, he’s the Scottish Warrior, Claymore Kicks, all that stuff. To my wife? He’s logged in her brain as “the angry Scotsman.”
It’s not like she drew a picture of him or anything literal like the title might suggest. It was more like she ‘drew’ a character sketch in her mind, summed him up in her own unique, slightly off-the-mark way. Happens all the time, actually. She’s got her own names and descriptions for loads of people or characters I follow. Keeps things interesting, I guess. Better than just nodding along when she’s got zero interest, right?
Just a random thought triggered by seeing the guy. Made me smile, remembering that little moment.
