Alright, let’s talk about this tennis girl, Jelena Ostapenko. Heard some folks whisperin’ ’bout her and the sugar sickness, you know, diabetes.
Now, I ain’t no doctor, but I know a thing or two about life. This diabetes thing, it’s a tough one. Means your body can’t handle sugar right, gotta be careful what you eat, gotta keep movin’. It ain’t easy, lemme tell ya.
Folks been sayin’ Ostapenko, she’s got it. Type 1, they call it. That’s the kind where your body just don’t make that stuff, insulin, to break down the sugar. Means she gotta be real careful, watch her food, stick herself with needles, the whole shebang. Must be tough, especially when you’re runnin’ around a tennis court, smackin’ that ball. Makes a body tired just thinkin’ ’bout it.
- Gotta eat healthy, they say. Plenty of veggies and fruits, not too much of that sweet stuff.
- Gotta exercise, keep that blood pumpin’. Well, she’s a tennis player, so she’s got that covered, I reckon.
- Gotta check that blood sugar, make sure it ain’t too high or too low. Prick your finger, put a drop on that little machine. Seen it before, my neighbor’s got it.
Now, some folks sayin’ she’s put on some weight lately. Heard ’em talkin’ ’bout it at the grocery store. Weight gain, they call it. Well, who am I to judge? Bodies change, you know. Maybe it’s the diabetes, maybe it ain’t. But it ain’t right to gossip, that’s what I say.
But if she does have the sugar sickness, it makes sense she might have some ups and downs with her weight. Gotta be hard to balance everything, the food, the medicine, the exercise, and then playin’ tennis on top of it all. She’s a tough cookie, that Ostapenko. I’ll give her that. Seen her on TV, hittin’ that ball like nobody’s business. Fierce, she is.
They say she speaks a few languages, this girl. Latvian, Russian, and English. Smart cookie too, it seems. And they call her Alona, her friends and family. Jelena’s her real name, but Alona’s what they call her. Kinda like how my grandkids call me Nana, even though my name’s Martha. Names, they don’t matter much, it’s the person inside that counts.
And that DK One outfit she was wearin’? Heard folks talkin’ ’bout that too. Said she looked good. Well, good for her, I say. A girl’s gotta look nice, even when she’s battlin’ the sugar sickness. Makes you feel better, lookin’ good does. Even if you ain’t feelin’ so great on the inside.
So, whether she’s got the diabetes or not, it ain’t nobody’s business but hers. But if she does, I hope she’s takin’ care of herself. It ain’t easy, this sickness. But you can live a good life with it, long as you’re careful and listen to the doctors. And from what I see, this Ostapenko girl, she’s a fighter. She’ll be alright. She’s a strong one, that girl. I can see it in her eyes. And tennis or no tennis, health comes first, that’s what I always say. Gotta take care of yourself, body and soul.
Anyways, that’s all I gotta say about it. Just hope she’s doin’ okay, this Jelena girl. She’s a good tennis player, and that’s enough for me. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. Got some nice collard greens cookin’ on the stove. Healthy eatin’, that’s the key, you know.
