Okay, so let’s talk about Jimbo Fisher and FSU. This whole thing is a bit of a wild ride, so buckle up.
I remember when this all started, back when Bobby Bowden announced he was retiring. It was a huge deal because they immediately named Jimbo Fisher as the head-coach-in-waiting. I started to really get into all of this. I mean, the guy was supposed to be the future of FSU football. I started researching everything I could find on him and the team.
In 2013, man, that was a year to remember. Fisher actually led FSU to a national championship! It was their third one ever. I was following every game, every play. They were on this crazy winning streak, 29 games from 2012 to 2014. I dedicated a whole section of my blog to tracking their progress. I made charts, wrote game summaries, the whole nine yards.
- 2013 National Championship: This was the highlight. I watched the championship game with my friends. We were all on the edge of our seats. When FSU won, it was pure euphoria. I updated my blog immediately, capturing the excitement of the moment. I felt like I was part of the team’s journey.
But then things started to get messy. I noticed that in 2017, there were a lot of issues. Performances weren’t as good, and there seemed to be something going on behind the scenes. It seemed like there was drama. I dug into the stats, comparing them to previous years. I started to speculate on what was going wrong in my blog posts. It was clear something was changing, and it wasn’t for the better.
Then, bam! December 1, 2017, Fisher up and resigned as FSU’s head coach. It was out of nowhere. I remember reading the news and just being shocked. I spent hours that day piecing together the story, looking for any hints or clues that I had missed. I even started a forum on my blog to discuss it with other fans. He didn’t even coach the last two games. People were talking about his departure, saying it was awkward. I felt a little let down, like we were all left hanging. I wrote a long, emotional post about what Fisher’s time at FSU meant to me and the fans.
Fast forward to November 12, 2023, Fisher got fired from Texas A&M. At the time of his firing he had a 6-4 record. I was keeping an eye on his career there, too. It was like watching a slow-motion train wreck, to be honest. After the firing, rumors circulated about him potentially joining West Virginia as head coach, but according to a sports reporter, that wasn’t in the cards. I updated my blog with this news, noting the end of another chapter in Fisher’s career.
The Aftermath
In the end, Fisher’s story is a mix of incredible highs and some pretty dramatic lows. He brought some terrific moments to FSU, that’s for sure, but the way things ended left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth. I guess it just goes to show that even in sports, things can get complicated real fast. I’ve learned a lot from following his career, and it’s definitely given me plenty to write about on my blog!
