So, I finally decided to get off my butt and do something about this dad bod I’ve been rocking. I heard that kickboxing was a good way to shed some pounds and maybe learn how to defend myself if I ever get jumped for my sneakers. I live in Federal Way, so I started looking for a place nearby.
I checked out a few places, and let me tell you, some of them were a joke. One place had an instructor who looked like he hadn’t thrown a punch since the 80s. Another place was so crowded, I could barely move, let alone kick. It was pretty discouraging, to be honest.
Then, I stumbled upon this place called BestHour Kickboxing on 324th Street. I figured, “What the heck, might as well give it a shot.” I went to the studio, checked in, and got ready for my first class.
My First Class
The class started with a warm-up. We did some jumping jacks, push-ups, and some other stuff that I can’t even pronounce. I was already starting to feel it, but I pushed through. Then, we started learning some basic punches and kicks. The instructor, a pretty chill dude, showed us how to throw a jab, a cross, a hook, and an uppercut. He also taught us some basic kicks, like the front kick and the roundhouse kick.

Hitting the Heavy Bag
After we practiced the moves in the air for a while, it was time to hit the heavy bags. I gotta say, it felt pretty good to let loose and punch something. I pretended the bag was my old boss, my annoying neighbor, pretty much anyone who had ever pissed me off. It was therapeutic, to say the least. We did some drills where we had to throw combinations of punches and kicks, and let me tell you, it was a workout.
Cool Down and Feeling Good
After about an hour, the class was over. We did some cool-down stretches, and I was officially wiped out. But you know what? I felt amazing. I was sore, sweaty, and exhausted, but I felt like I had accomplished something. I actually enjoyed myself, and I was excited to go back. It was way better than sitting on the couch, watching TV, and eating chips. Trust me, if you’re looking for a good workout in Federal Way, give this kickboxing thing a try. It’s a real kicker, literally!
I made a lot of friends at the gym. They all enjoy exercise as much as I do, and I was so happy.
Now I go to the gym three days a week. I lost a lot of weight and got a lot of muscles. I feel very good now.
I have been to other kickboxing gyms, such as Team SNRG, Ring Demon Academy of Mixed Martial Arts, and Ninja School Federal Way, but I think BestHour Kickboxing is the best. Their classes are the most fun and their coaches are the most professional. I would recommend it to everyone.
I have never loved a workout class as much as I love BestHour Kickboxing. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to lose weight, get in shape, or just have fun.
I have kept exercising for a long time now, and I am feeling better and better.
