Alright, so I got curious about José María Olazábal the other day. You know, the Spanish maestro, two-time Masters champ. Always loved his game, especially that short game magic. So, I thought, let’s figure out what sticks he actually carries around these days. It’s not always easy finding up-to-date info on legends who aren’t playing a full schedule, you know?

Spent a bit of time digging around online, looking at recent photos from senior events, trying to piece things together. It’s a bit like detective work sometimes. You see glimpses in articles, maybe a clear shot from a broadcast. It’s definitely not like the current PGA Tour guys where sites list everything down to the grip tape.
Finding the Gear
You have to kind of cross-reference stuff. Saw some pictures from the Masters Champions Dinner, but that doesn’t show his gamers, obviously. Then looked at some Champions Tour coverage. It seems like he stays pretty loyal to brands he’s used for a long time, which makes sense. Not chopping and changing every five minutes.
Based on what I could gather from the past couple of years, here’s a rough idea of what Ollie likely has in the bag. Keep in mind, this stuff can change, and getting exact specs is tough without being inside the ropes!
Driver
- Seems like he’s been using a TaylorMade model. Maybe something like a SIM or Stealth era driver? Hard to be exact from pictures sometimes, but definitely looked like TaylorMade shaping.
Fairway Woods
- Again, sticking with TaylorMade here from what I could see. Probably a 3-wood and maybe a 5-wood, typical setup.
Irons
- This is where Ollie’s history is. He was famous for those beautiful Mizuno blades back in the day. More recently, I’ve seen pictures suggesting he might be using some TaylorMade irons, possibly something like the P7MBs or a combo set. Makes sense given the woods. Still pure looking, though.
Wedges
- Now, his short game weapons. This is crucial for him. Looked like Titleist Vokey wedges. That’s pretty common, top choice for feel and spin. Probably has a few different lofts for all those tricky shots he plays. Maybe a 52, 56, 60 degree setup?
Putter
- He’s used a few different putters over the years. Often seen with an Odyssey model, sometimes a blade style, sometimes a mallet. Seems like he goes with what feels right at the time.
Putting it Together
So yeah, that’s the gist of what I managed to figure out. It’s mostly TaylorMade through the top of the bag, maybe Titleist wedges, and an Odyssey putter seemed likely last I checked. It’s always cool to see what gear these guys stick with, especially someone with hands and feel like Olazábal. You know whatever he’s using, he can make it work. Took a bit of searching, but fun to try and build the picture.
