Okay, let’s talk about how I finally got my hands on that god roll Piece of Mind. It took some serious time, let me tell you.

Starting the Hunt
So, first thing, I knew I wanted this pulse rifle. Heard good things, seen it around. The goal was clear: get the perfect version. For me, that meant specific perks I thought would work best for how I play. I wasn’t just going to settle for any old drop.
The Grind Begins
I figured the best way was to dive into the seasonal activity back then, you know, the PsiOps Battlegrounds. Seemed like the most direct route. So, I started running them. Over, and over, and over again. Load in, shoot aliens, grab the chest, repeat. Sometimes I’d focus engrams at the HELM too, using up whatever currency I had saved up, hoping for that lucky break.
Honestly, it got pretty boring after a while. You see the same rooms, fight the same enemies. You kind of zone out. Got a bunch of Piece of Mind drops, yeah, but none of them were it. Some had okay barrels, but the main perks were off. Others had one good perk, but the second one was useless for me. It was frustrating, like sorting through a pile of junk hoping for treasure.
Perks I Didn’t Want (Examples):
- Got one with Heating Up and Turnabout. Not bad, but not what I was aiming for.
- Another had Adaptive Munitions. Useful sometimes, but not for my main roll.
- Plenty with stats I didn’t care about, like handling boosts when I wanted stability or range.
Sticking With It
There were definitely times I thought about giving up, just using a different gun. But I’m stubborn. I had this specific roll in my head: something super stable with a damage perk that ramped up nicely. I kept picturing how it would feel. So, I kept going. Put on some music, podcasts, whatever helped pass the time during the runs. Focused on just getting through one more completion, opening one more chest, focusing one more engram.
The Magic Drop
Then, finally, after who knows how many runs – seriously, I lost count – it happened. Finished a PsiOps run, popped the chest, and there it was. Another Piece of Mind. I almost didn’t even check it carefully, assuming it’d be another dud. But I did. I looked at the perks.
Boom. It had exactly what I’d been chasing. Arrowhead Brake for that perfect recoil control. Ricochet Rounds for the range and stability bump. Perpetual Motion to keep it steady while moving. And Adrenaline Junkie for that sweet damage boost after a grenade kill. It was beautiful.
Testing it Out
I immediately equipped it. Didn’t even wait. Jumped straight into a patrol zone just to fire it. Oh yeah. It felt right. The recoil was practically non-existent with Arrowhead and Perpetual Motion working together. Popping a few enemies, tossing a grenade, and then just melting the next few guys with Adrenaline Junkie active… chef’s kiss. It handled exactly how I imagined.

Was it Worth It?
Yeah, the grind was rough. It took way longer than I hoped. But sitting here now, with that specific roll in my inventory, knowing I earned it? It feels good. It’s my go-to pulse for a lot of stuff now. So yeah, for me, putting in that time was definitely worth getting this piece of mind… literally.
