I recently tried out the Brook Wingman FGC converter for my PS4, and let me tell you, it’s been quite the experience. I’ve always been more of a fighting game enthusiast, and I’ve got this awesome arcade stick that I’m super comfortable with. But it’s not natively compatible with the PS4. So, I went on a hunt for a solution and stumbled upon the Brook Wingman FGC.
First off, getting it to work was a bit of a journey. I plugged the converter into my PS4’s USB port and then connected my arcade stick to the converter. Initially, nothing. My heart sank a little, but I’m not one to give up easily. I remembered reading something about a tiny hole on the back of these things, like the one on the DualShock 4, near the L2 button. Turns out, the converter has one too!
So, I grabbed a paperclip, pushed the little button inside that hole, and held it down for a few seconds. Then, like magic, my arcade stick was recognized! I was pumped. I navigated through the PS4 dashboard, went into the settings, and made sure everything under “Sound and Screen” was cool. It was all pretty straightforward from there.
Now, about that “hold triangle” thing. I discovered that by holding the triangle button on my arcade stick while plugging it into the converter, I could access some sort of special mode. Honestly, I’m still figuring out all the perks of this mode, but it seems to unlock some extra features, maybe some button remapping or something. I did try few new skill moves from FC24 and I’m sure it was working as expected. Also I was able to share and tweet my highlights. I’m still experimenting with it, and it feels like there’s a lot more to uncover.
- Step 1: Plug the Brook Wingman FGC converter into the PS4.
- Step 2: Connect the arcade stick to the converter.
- Step 3: If it doesn’t work, use a paperclip to press the reset button on the back of the converter.
- Step 4: Hold down the triangle button on the arcade stick while connecting to enter a special mode.
My Gaming Experience
The gameplay experience has been solid. No noticeable lag, which is crucial for fighting games. Pulling off combos and special moves feels just as responsive as it did on my old setup. Honestly, it made those intense gaming sessions way more enjoyable. Plus, being able to use my favorite arcade stick on the PS4? Priceless. I even tried playing some tunes from Spotify while playing, just to make the experience even better. It’s really cool that the PS4 lets you do that, by the way, not related to the converter though.
I’m still exploring all the features of this converter, especially that triangle hold mode. It’s like this little device has a bunch of secrets waiting to be discovered. I’ll definitely keep tinkering with it and see what else I can make it do. If you’re in a similar boat, trying to use your favorite non-PS4 controller on your PS4, I’d say give the Brook Wingman FGC a shot. It might take a bit of fiddling to get it right, but once it’s set up, it’s pretty awesome.
