Okay, let’s talk about what I’ve been running at Town Hall 11 in Clash of Clans lately. It took some trial and error, for sure. You hit TH11 and suddenly bases feel a whole lot tougher, especially with that Eagle Artillery staring you down.

Getting Started with an Army
So, I started experimenting. Tried a few things, some worked okay, some were just a disaster. You know how it goes. I needed something reliable, something that could consistently pull 2 stars, and maybe snag 3 stars on the right base without needing god-tier skills.
Eventually, I settled on using Electro Dragons, or E-Drags as most people call ’em. Yeah, I know, some folks love ’em, some hate ’em, but they pack a punch and the chain lightning is pretty useful for clearing out clumps of buildings.
My Go-To E-Drag Setup
Here’s what I’ve been cooking up in my barracks:
- Troops: Usually around 7 or 8 Electro Dragons. Then I fill the rest with Balloons, maybe 8 to 12 of them. Sometimes I chuck in a Baby Dragon or a couple of sneaky goblins just for funneling or grabbing percentage points.
- Spells: This part’s key. I mostly take 4 Rage Spells and 3 Freeze Spells. Sometimes I swap one Rage for another Freeze if I see a lot of single target infernos or tricky air sweepers.
- Clan Castle: I always ask for another Electro Dragon and maybe some more Balloons in the CC. For the Siege Machine, I almost always grab a Battle Blimp, filled usually with Balloons or maybe sneaky goblins if I want to snipe the Town Hall. Sometimes a Stone Slammer works too, depends on the base layout.
- Heroes: Gotta have the heroes up. My Grand Warden is crucial, usually set to air mode. Queen and King help a ton with funneling or cleanup. Their levels matter, definitely makes it easier if they’re higher.
How I Actually Attack With It
Alright, so here’s the process when I find a base I want to hit:
First, I look at the base. Where are the Air Defenses? Are they grouped up? Where’s the Eagle Artillery? Which way are the Air Sweepers pointing? Are the Inferno Towers set to single or multi? These things tell me where I should probably start the attack.
Next, funneling. This is super important. If you just dump all your E-Drags in one spot, they’ll wander off and die. So, I usually drop my Barbarian King on one corner and my Archer Queen on the other corner of the side I want to attack from. Their job is just to clear those outside buildings, creating a path straight into the base for the main force. Sometimes I’ll use a Baby Dragon for this if a hero isn’t needed or the angle is awkward.
Then comes the main push. Once the sides are clearing, I deploy the E-Drags in a line between where my heroes funneled. Right behind them, I spread out the Balloons. Then I send in the Grand Warden, making sure he’s set to air and will follow the E-Drags and Balloons.
Siege Machine time. Depending on the base, I’ll send the Battle Blimp usually aiming for the core or maybe the Town Hall. If I’m using a Stone Slammer, I send it in with the main group, maybe slightly off to one side to target key defenses.

Spells are critical. As my troops push into the base, especially towards the core where the Eagle Artillery and Inferno Towers are, I drop Rage Spells. This makes the E-Drags’ chain lightning devastating and helps the Balloons drop bombs faster. I use Freeze Spells very carefully. I freeze Air Sweepers that are blowing my troops back, or single-target Inferno Towers locking onto an E-Drag, or the Eagle Artillery right before it fires. Sometimes I freeze the enemy Clan Castle troops or Queen if they’re causing trouble.
Hero abilities. The Grand Warden’s Eternal Tome ability is a lifesaver. I try to pop it when the Eagle Artillery shots are about to land, or when my main group is taking heavy fire in the core, especially from multi-Infernos. Queen’s Royal Cloak and King’s Iron Fist are usually used when their health gets low or to push through a tough section or take down an enemy hero.
Cleanup? If things go well, the E-Drags and Balloons clear most stuff. If I brought cleanup troops like minions, I sprinkle them around the edges once the main defenses are down to pick off leftover buildings faster.
Practice Makes Perfect (Sort Of)
Honestly, it took a lot of practice attacks. Sometimes I messed up the funnel. Sometimes I dropped my spells too early or too late. Sometimes the E-Drags just decided to fly around the entire base instead of going in. It happens.
But after doing it over and over, I started getting the hang of it. It’s pretty reliable for getting 2 stars, especially in Clan Wars. Getting 3 stars really depends on the base design. If the core is tight and the air defenses are reachable, it’s definitely possible. It’s not foolproof, no army is, but it’s been working well for me at TH11.
So yeah, that’s my current go-to for TH11. Nothing revolutionary, just solid E-Drags and Balloons with careful spell placement. It gets the job done most of the time. Give it a try if you’re looking for something different, or stick with what works for you!
