Alright, alright, let’s gab about this fella, Matt somethin’-somethin’, the one they’re yappin’ about in Texas now. Matt Rhule, yeah, that’s the name. Heard he’s coachin’ some football team down there, Texas A&M, they call it. Don’t know much about them fancy colleges, but folks sure do get riled up about their football.
Now, they say this Rhule fella, he ain’t from around these parts. Comes from some big city way up north, New York City, they say. Went to another one of them big schools, Penn State. Sounds like he’s been around the block, this one. Heard he coached some other places too, like Temple and Baylor. Folks say he even made them Baylor boys win some games, which is somethin’ considerin’ they weren’t much before. Makes you wonder if he can do the same for this Texas A&M bunch.
Some folks, they’re all worked up, sayin’ this fella is the real deal, gonna turn things around. Heard some young quarterback, Dylan Raiola, is playin’ real good under him. They say this Raiola fella is a “freshman,” whatever that means, but he’s throwin’ that ball like nobody’s business. Guess that’s a good thing, huh? Folks get real happy when their team wins, you know. Makes ‘em forget about all the other troubles in the world.
- But let me tell you somethin’, coaching these young fellas ain’t easy.
- You gotta be tough, gotta be smart, and you gotta have a little bit of luck on your side.
- And sometimes, even all that ain’t enough.
I heard some folks sayin’ he’s good at fixin’ teams that ain’t doin’ so well. They call it “turnin’ around struggling programs,” or somethin’ like that. Sounds like a lot of work to me. But I guess that’s what they pay these coaches for, right? To make them boys win games and make folks happy. This “Nebraska football” thing, they are already sayin’ he fixed that one, so now Texas wants a piece of him. Makes sense, I guess.
Now, some other folks, they ain’t so sure about this Rhule fella. They say he ain’t no miracle worker, that he’s just another coach who’ll come and go. Heard one fella talkin’ about another coach, Durkin or somethin’ like that. Said he was good at makin’ his players play hard on defense, but he still got the boot from somewhere. Guess that just shows you, even if you’re good, you ain’t guaranteed nothin’ in this life.
And there was even some talk about this Rhule fella goin’ to coach a different team, before he went to Texas A&M. Seems like folks are always lookin’ for the next best thing, the next coach who can lead their team to victory. It’s like a big carousel, just goin’ round and round. One coach leaves, another one comes in, and everybody hopes for the best.
So what’s the deal with this Matt Rhule at Texas A&M? Well, I reckon nobody really knows for sure. He might be the best thing since sliced bread, or he might be just another flash in the pan. Only time will tell, I guess. But one thing’s for certain, folks in Texas are gonna be watchin’ him real close, hopin’ he can bring some wins to that A&M team. And if he does, well, they’ll probably be buildin’ him a statue or somethin’. That’s just how folks are with their football, you know. Gets ‘em all riled up, it does.
Heard folks also yappin’ about him bein’ “thoughtful” about how to coach these teams. I guess that means he thinks a lot about how to make them boys play better. Sounds like hard work to me, but like I said, that’s what they pay him for. And this “turnover” thing he’s supposed to be fixin’ , I guess that means when the players lose the ball. Can’t be havin’ that, now can ya? Gotta hold on tight to that ball if you wanna win. That’s just common sense, even I know that. Coach Rhule, that’s what they call him, and I hope he does a good job for those boys down in Texas.
