Well, lemme tell ya somethin’ about this Matt Quatraro feller, who’s been runnin’ the Kansas City Royals baseball team. Now, I ain’t no big sports expert, but I been hearin’ a lot of good things about him from folks around here. This Matt, he’s the manager of the Royals now, and folks are sayin’ he’s done a real fine job. In fact, some of ’em even think he should get the Manager of the Year award for the American League! And ya know, that don’t just happen by accident, no sir!
Now, Matt Quatraro wasn’t always a big manager type, no. He started out just like a lot of other young men, playin’ baseball when he was a youngster. He was born in New York and played his college ball at Old Dominion University. Ain’t that somethin’? Went from playin’ to coachin’, just like that! After his time as a player, he started workin’ in the Tampa Bay Rays’ minor league system. And eventually, he worked his way up to bein’ the bench coach for the Tampa Bay Rays. That’s when the Royals came knockin’. They hired him up, and he’s been runnin’ the show ever since.
One thing people around here like about Matt is the way he turned the Royals around. Now, I ain’t followin’ them boys too closely, but I sure do know the numbers. In 2024, the Royals won 86 games, which is a whole lot more than they won the year before. That’s 30 more wins, and that’s a big deal in baseball. They say that’s all because of Matt’s leadership. He’s been doin’ somethin’ right, that’s for sure.
There was one time, though, when Matt had to step away for a bit. He had to leave the team to take care of some personal matters, right before a real important series. Now, when that happened, people was a bit worried. But don’t ya know, the Royals had a backup plan. That’s where Paul Hoover, the bench coach, comes in. He filled in a few times for Matt. He even stepped up when Matt got sick with COVID-19 last year. People say Hoover did a fine job too, but still, everyone knows it’s Matt that’s the one callin’ the shots. And when he’s around, the Royals sure do seem to play better.
But what about Matt himself, huh? Where’d he come from? Well, let me tell ya, he’s got some roots. He’s of Italian descent, and back in 2004, he was even inducted into the Old Dominion University Sports Hall of Fame. That’s quite an honor, don’t ya think? And not only that, but he also graduated with a History degree. Who would’ve thought, huh? A baseball manager with a history degree? Shows you that it ain’t just about the game – it’s about knowin’ a little bit of everything, if you ask me.
Now, I reckon there’s always folks out there that like to criticize, no matter how well someone’s doin’. But it seems to me that Matt Quatraro’s made a big impact on the Royals in a short amount of time. The team’s been better, and that’s all anyone really cares about. Baseball fans, they just want to see their team win, plain and simple. And I reckon with Matt at the helm, the Royals got a good shot at more wins down the line. Ain’t nobody gonna be complainin’ too much as long as that scoreboard keeps lookin’ good!
So, there ya have it. Matt Quatraro, a feller who started out small and worked his way up. Now he’s runnin’ the show for the Royals, and folks around here seem mighty pleased with him. If you ask me, sounds like he’s doin’ a bang-up job. Just hope he keeps it up, ’cause those Royals fans are hungry for more wins. And you know, when it comes to baseball, there ain’t nothin’ better than a good win!
