Okay, so, let’s talk about the 2023 PGA Championship. What a wild ride that was, right? I’ve been following golf for years, and this one was definitely for the books. I mean, Brooks Koepka winning his fifth major? That’s just insane!
First off, I watched this whole thing unfold from my couch, which, let’s be honest, is the best seat in the house. I followed it from day one. I got my snacks ready, got comfortable, and watched those first tee shots on Thursday, May 18th. Oak Hill Country Club, I’d heard a lot about it, that East Course is a beast. I saw some folks online comparing it to a U.S. Open course. Tough, you know?
I watched every day, and each day had its moments. I jotted down some notes ’cause, why not? It’s fun to look back. I saw some players I was rooting for, like Sam Burns, not making the cut, which was a bummer. I mean, the guy’s missed the cut at the PGA for the first time!
But then you had Koepka just dominating. I watched him play all 72 holes. It was stroke play, which is always a grind. I was glued to the screen, especially that final round on Sunday. Watching him sink that final putt, man, what a feeling! I even yelled at the TV a few times, I’ll admit.
My Personal Highlights:
- Koepka’s Comeback: Seriously, seeing him win after all the injuries and stuff, it was inspiring. I thought to myself “This guy is really tough.”
- The Course: Oak Hill was a character in itself. I kept thinking, “How do these guys even play on this thing?”
- The Drama: Every day there was something. Missed cuts, crazy shots, the leaderboard changing constantly. I lived for it!
I remember reading somewhere that Koepka is the 20th guy to win five majors. That’s some legendary company. It made me think about all the greats I’ve watched over the years.
In the end, I just enjoyed the whole spectacle. I talked about it with my buddies, read all the articles afterward, you name it. I even looked up who won last year, just to compare, you know how it is. It was a great tournament, and I’m already looking forward to next year. Maybe I’ll even try to go in person, who knows!
