Alright, so let me tell you about trying to get a trade done in MLB The Show 24. It’s something a lot of us run into in Road to the Show, right? You get drafted, you’re excited, but then maybe things don’t feel right.

For me, I landed on a team that already had a solid guy at my position. Like, really solid. An All-Star. I was doing okay in Triple-A, putting up decent numbers, but I just wasn’t getting the call-up. Felt like I was stuck, you know? Wasting my prime years riding buses in the minors while this dude was hitting dingers in the big leagues.
Figuring Out How and When
So, I decided I needed a change of scenery. First thing I did was just play for a bit longer, thinking maybe I just needed more time. But nah, it became pretty clear I was blocked. I started digging around in the menus during my off-days in the game. You gotta go into the mode’s main hub, where you see your player and options and stuff.
I looked around under the Clubhouse section, then Interactions. That seemed like the place. You interact with your agent for lots of stuff, so it made sense it’d be there. And yeah, eventually, I saw the option pop up. It wasn’t there right at the start of my career, mind you. You gotta play for a bit, maybe until your agent checks in with you after a few months in the season, maybe even longer depending on your situation.
Talking to the Agent
So I clicked on the ‘Request Trade’ option. My agent popped up on screen, typical agent talk. He asked if I was sure, warned me it might not happen, or I might end up somewhere I didn’t like. Standard stuff to make you think twice.
I told him yeah, let’s do it. I was pretty set on leaving. He basically said, “Okay, I’ll put out feelers, see what the interest is like. Don’t expect anything overnight.” Fair enough.
The Waiting Game
And then… you wait. This was the annoying part. You just keep playing your games. Every few weeks in-game time, the agent might check in. Sometimes he’d say “Still working on it,” or “Hearing some chatter,” or sometimes “Interest is low right now.” It’s a bit of a black box, honestly. You don’t get a list of teams calling or anything that detailed, at least not right away.
I kept playing, trying to keep my stats up. Figured that would make me more attractive to other teams. There were a couple of times I thought maybe it wasn’t going to happen. My agent sounded pretty downbeat once, saying the current team valued me but just didn’t have the spot.
Finally Getting Moved
Then, maybe about two months later in game time, bam! Got the notification. Interaction available with the agent. Went in, and he told me the team had worked out a deal. He mentioned the team I was going to.

It wasn’t my dream destination, not gonna lie. It was a rebuilding team, kinda middle of nowhere. But here’s the thing: they needed someone at my position. The agent pointed that out. Said it was a good opportunity for immediate playing time in the majors.
So, I accepted it. Packed my virtual bags. It felt good, actually. Even though the new team wasn’t a top contender, the path to getting on the field was clear. That’s really what I wanted.
So yeah, that was my journey trying to request a trade. It takes some time in the game, you gotta find the option through your agent interactions, and then you gotta be patient. And be ready to maybe not land on the Yankees or Dodgers, you know? Sometimes it’s just about getting that chance to play. Worked out for me in the end.
