Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get a better handle on how much I weigh in kilograms, ’cause, you know, the whole world uses that metric system thing. I’m used to pounds, being from the US and all. Anyway, I stepped on the scale the other day, and it read 215 lbs. I figured it was time to do the conversion.
First, I had to find the conversion factor. You know, how many kilograms are in one pound. So I hit up the internet and started searching.
- Some websites said a pound is about 0.453 kilograms.
- Others had this long, precise number: 0.45359237.
I decided to keep it simple and go with the 0.453 figure. No need to get super technical about it.
Next, I grabbed my phone and opened the calculator app. The simple math is to take the weight in pounds, which is 215, and multiply it by that conversion factor, 0.453.
So I typed in 215, hit the multiplication button, then typed in 0.453, and pressed equals.
The Result
The calculator spit out 97.395. So, 215 pounds is roughly 97.4 kilograms. Or, to round it up and keep things even simpler, about 97.5 kilograms. There you have it! I now know my weight in kilograms. It’s not rocket science, but it’s good to know. I might even start using kilograms more often, just to get more familiar with it.
