Alright, let’s talk about hunting down those fungi in Genshin. I remember needing a whole bunch of their spores, I think it was for Nahida? Or maybe Tighnari? Can’t quite recall, but man, I needed a LOT.

So, first thing I did, naturally, was just wander around Sumeru. You know, the big green areas, the rainforest. Figured they’d be everywhere. And yeah, they were kinda scattered about, but it was super slow going. I’d run for ages, maybe find a small group, smack ’em, then run again. Not very efficient, let me tell you.
Getting Serious About the Hunt
After wasting a good chunk of time, I decided I needed a better plan. I started thinking about where I’d seen big groups of them before. That glowing mushroom place up north popped into my head, Mawtiyima Forest, I think it’s called. Seemed like a good bet.
So, I teleported straight there. And yeah, that was way better. Found loads of them hiding under those giant glowing blue mushrooms and near the water patches. Different types too, floating ones, ground ones. It was a good start.
Learned Something Important
Here’s a thing I learned pretty fast though. If you blast them with Electro or Pyro, they drop different stuff – those activated Nuclei things. Which is fine if you need that, but I needed the regular spores. So, lesson learned: gotta use Hydro, Cryo, Dendro, Anemo, Geo or just plain physical attacks. Took me a few wrong drops to figure that out properly.
My Go-To Farming Spots
After clearing out Mawtiyima Forest, I needed more spots for my farming route. I started exploring other areas more systematically.
- Around the Chasm edges (Sumeru side): Found quite a few lurking in the underground parts near the surface, especially where the Chasm meets Sumeru’s greenery. Lots of the stretchy ground ones there.
- South of Sumeru City / Avidya Forest: That whole area, especially heading towards Gandharva Ville and Pardis Dhyai, had decent patches. Not as dense as Mawtiyima, but good fill-ins.
- West of Vanarana: The region leading towards the desert also had some good clusters, often near water or tucked away in valleys.
Basically, I spent an evening just running between waypoints in these zones. I started marking clumps on my map whenever I found a good bunch, maybe 5 or more together. Made the next run way faster.
It’s still a bit of a chore, not gonna lie. You gotta wait for them to respawn, usually the next day. But focusing on those specific zones, especially Mawtiyima Forest first, and remembering not to use Electro/Pyro (unless I needed the other stuff) made it way less painful than just running around blind. Took a few dedicated sessions, but I got all the spores I needed eventually.
