Man, figuring out the “best” attackers in Siege… it’s a whole thing, isn’t it? I remember when I first started playing, I just picked whoever looked cool. Spent a lot of time getting absolutely wrecked, let me tell you.

I started off trying to just run and gun. Picked Ash, Zofia, anyone fast with a decent gun. Seemed logical, right? Get in, get kills. Well, that worked maybe one round out of ten. I quickly realized that just running in headfirst usually meant running straight into a Frost mat or a Kapkan trap. Or just getting blasted from an angle I never saw coming. Wasn’t working for me, not consistently anyway.
So then I started actually thinking about what the team needed. It kinda clicked when we kept getting stalled outside the objective. No way to open the reinforced walls. That’s when I started playing Thermite, then Hibana. Actually making holes for the team felt way more useful than just being another gun.
Learning the Roles
It took me a while, but I learned you gotta have a mix. You can’t just have five guys trying to breach the main wall, and you can’t have five guys trying to sneak around for flanks. I started trying to fill what we were missing.
- Hard Breach: Someone’s gotta open those walls. Thermite, Hibana, Ace… depends on the site, really. I lean towards Ace lately, feels a bit safer to deploy sometimes.
- Soft Breach / Utility Clear: Then you need guys like Sledge or Buck to open up floors and ceilings, or maybe Flores to drone out and deal with shields and Maestro cams. I’ve been messing with Flores a lot, tricky but fun when it works.
- Support / Flank Watch: Can’t forget Nomad or Gridlock. Stopping defenders from running out and surprising us saved my bacon more times than I can count. I used to ignore these guys, big mistake.
- Entry / Fragger: Yeah, you still need someone to go in first sometimes. But now I see it’s gotta be coordinated. It’s not just about raw aim, it’s about timing and knowing where to push. I still play Zofia sometimes, but I think more before I charge in now.
My Go-Tos Lately
Right now, based on how my games usually go? I find myself picking Ace quite a bit. Being able to breach from range feels super valuable, especially when Bandit or Kaid are doing their thing. If we need more utility clear, I’ll often go with Flores – sending those explosive drones in to clear shields or bulletproof cams feels great when it works. And if I just need someone solid with good guns and useful gadgets, maybe Iana. Her clones for gathering info are just amazing, lets me figure out where people are without risking my own neck.
Funny thing is, I used to think Iana was kinda useless. Just a clone? Big deal. But then I actually spent time learning how to use her properly, using the clones to bait shots or clear specific angles ahead of time. Changed my whole perspective on her. Shows how much you can miss if you don’t give operators a real try.
And honestly? The “best” attacker changes practically every season with the updates and reworks. Someone who feels amazing now might feel clunky next patch. Remember when Lion was basically a required pick? Crazy times. You gotta adapt. What worked for me last month might not work this month.
So yeah, there’s no simple answer. The best attacker is often the one that fits the map, the site, what your team is doing, and frankly, who you feel comfortable with that day. For me, it’s less about finding the one single “best” operator and more about understanding the different jobs that need doing and being flexible enough to fill the gaps. That’s what I’ve found works best, anyway.
