Okay, so let me walk you through how I actually went about requesting a trade in MLB The Show 23. It wasn’t super obvious at first, but once I figured it out, it was pretty straightforward.

Starting the Process
First thing, I loaded up my Road to the Show (RTTS) save file. My guy was kinda stuck, you know? Putting up decent numbers in Triple-A, but the major league team had an All-Star at my position. Wasn’t seeing a path forward, felt like I needed a change of scenery.
So, from the main RTTS menu, the one where you see your player and the schedule and stuff, I started looking around for where I could interact with the team or, like, my agent.
Finding the Agent Interaction
I poked around the menus for a bit. You gotta go into the section that’s usually called something like ‘My Player’ or ‘Player Hub’. It’s where you see your stats, perks, and all that jazz. Somewhere in there, maybe under ‘Interactions’ or ‘Career’, I found the option to talk to my agent. It wasn’t immediately obvious, took me a minute clicking through tabs.
Once I found the ‘Agent’ interaction, I selected it.
Making the Request
This brought up a little dialogue screen with my agent. He had a few things you could talk about, like your performance, maybe your role on the team, stuff like that. I scanned the options, looking for anything about transfers or moving teams.
And there it was. One of the dialogue choices was clearly something like ‘Request a Trade’ or ‘Discuss wanting a trade’. It was pretty direct.
I selected that option. My agent then gave me a little warning, you know, saying stuff like, ‘Are you sure?’ or ‘This could make the front office unhappy’. Just the usual game stuff trying to add some drama. I just confirmed, yeah, I wanna explore trade options.
Waiting Game
Alright, here’s the thing: it’s not instant. After telling my agent I wanted out, I just had to go back to playing games. The agent basically says they’ll see what they can do and get back to you.

So, I just continued my season. Played a few games, maybe a week or two in game time passed? I wasn’t really counting, just playing normally. I kept checking my interactions or messages after each game, hoping for news.
The Result
Eventually, after one of the games, I got a notification or an agent interaction popped up again. This time, he had news.
- He told me they found a team interested and the trade was happening.
- Or, sometimes, he might say that they couldn’t find a suitable trade partner, or the team wasn’t willing to trade you right now.
For me, the first time I tried this, it actually worked! The agent told me which team I was traded to. It was kinda cool, seeing the notification and then finding myself in a new organization.
So yeah, that’s the process I went through. Find your agent in the RTTS menus, tell him you want a trade, wait a bit while playing, and see what happens. Sometimes it works, sometimes you gotta wait longer or maybe it just won’t happen that season. Good luck if you’re trying it!
