Well, you know, Nick Castellanos, that big baseball player for the Phillies, he’s got himself a boy, named Liam. Now, this boy, he was born back in August 2013, so he’s about 10 years old now. A real good kid, I hear, always running around at the games with his daddy and all. Liam, he’s been at them home games for a long time now. You’ll see him sitting in the stands, running through the clubhouse, and even standing out on the field with his dad, watching him do his thing.
Now, Nick, he didn’t always have Liam with him. Him and Liam’s mama, Vanessa Hernandez, they split up a few years back. But then Nick married a new lady, Jessica Gomez, and they had another boy, Otto, in 2022. That sure made Liam a big brother, didn’t it? But even though Liam mostly lives down in Florida with his mama and grandma, he sure don’t miss out on spending summers in Philadelphia with his daddy. You can’t blame him, right? Who wouldn’t want to be around the big leagues?
I reckon one of the most touching things I’ve seen was when Nick Castellanos hit that game-winning single in the ninth inning against the Mets in the NLDS. Now, the Phillies were all tied up with the Mets, and it was down to the wire. Nick gets up there and knocks that ball right outta the park to win the game. But what really got me was after he hit that ball, he didn’t just run to the dugout or high-five his teammates. Nope, he ran right to the stands to hug his son Liam. You could tell, that moment, it meant the world to both of ’em.
And I’m tellin’ ya, Liam wasn’t just sittin’ around while his dad was doin’ all that. The boy’s been involved with the Phillies a lot. He’s even been the batboy for the team down in Clearwater, Florida. That’s a big deal, I tell ya. You don’t just hand that job to anyone. It shows just how much the boy’s already a part of the whole baseball life. He’s got baseball in his blood, just like his daddy.
It’s a nice thing to see, really. A father and son sharing those kinds of moments, where it ain’t just about the game. It’s about family. Those memories stick with you forever. I’m sure Liam’s gonna remember every minute of his daddy’s big moments. When you grow up around that kind of atmosphere, it changes you, makes you see the world a little different.
Now, I ain’t saying that Liam’s gonna grow up to be a baseball star like his daddy. But let me tell you, it sure wouldn’t surprise me. He’s already been on that field more times than most kids could ever dream of. And even if he don’t end up playing ball professionally, he’s still gonna have them memories. Memories of watchin’ his daddy hit game-winning hits, runnin’ around the field, and just bein’ there, part of the action.
But more than that, it’s the relationship between a father and his son that stands out the most. It ain’t just about what happens on the field, it’s about the bond they share, the time they spend together. Baseball’s just the backdrop, but what really matters is the love and support Nick’s givin’ Liam as he grows up. Ain’t nothin’ more important than that, if you ask me.
So, when you think of Nick Castellanos, don’t just think about him hittin’ homers and makin’ plays. Think about him as a dad too. A dad who’s there for his boy, who’s makin’ memories with him every chance he gets. That’s the kind of stuff that lasts a lifetime, and I reckon it’ll stick with Liam for the rest of his life.
