Okay, so I’ve been wanting to learn the Notre Dame fight song on my trumpet for, like, forever. It’s just so iconic, you know? And I finally decided, “Today’s the day!” So, I started my quest for the “notre dame fight song music sheet.”

First, I hit up my usual sheet music websites. I figured, it’s a popular song, it should be easy to find. I typed in the search bar, fingers crossed…and, well, I found some versions. A bunch of different arrangements, actually. Some for piano, some for full orchestra, even some simplified versions. I was looking for the trumpet part, preferably something that sounded close to the official version I hear at games.
I spent a good chunk of time browsing through the search results, previewing some of the scores. Some looked way too complicated, some were too simple, and some just didn’t feel right. I’m not a pro musician or anything, so I needed something that I could actually handle, but still sounded good.
After what felt like hours (it was probably more like 45 minutes, haha), I went on another website.
I downloaded it, printed it out, and grabbed my trumpet. Time for a practice session!
I started playing through it, and…it was a bit rough at first. Some of the rhythms were a little tricky, and I definitely needed to work on my range for those high notes. But, hey, that’s what practice is for, right? I spent a good hour just going over and over the tricky parts, slowly getting the hang of it.
By the end of my practice session, I could play through most of the song without messing up too badly. It’s definitely a work in progress, but I’m feeling pretty good about it. I think with a few more practice sessions, I’ll be able to blast this out with confidence. I can almost imagine myself playing it at a tailgate party… someday!
