You see, them Oregon Ducks, they always got somethin’ new on, you know? They got them fancy pink uniforms now. Makes me think of cotton candy, or maybe them pink flamingos folks put in their yards. Well, I reckon it’s for a good cause, that breast cancer thing. Lord knows we’ve lost too many good women to that.
This one time, my granddaughter, she showed me pictures on that there internet. Said they was Oregon Ducks pink uniforms. Shiny, they were! And pink, like a baby girl’s blanket. Now, I ain’t never seen no football players wearin’ pink before. Back in my day, they wore them dark colors, like green and maybe some yella’. But these young’uns today, they like to show off, I guess.
They say these pink uniforms, they’re for some kinda awareness. Like, to make folks aware of that cancer. Like I said, it’s a mean one. Took my best friend, Betty Lou, God rest her soul. She always did like pink. Maybe she’d get a kick outta seein’ them football players all decked out like that.
- They got pink on their helmets, too.
- Just little bits of it, though.
- Mostly black, those helmets.
Now, you can get yourself one of them Oregon Ducks jerseys, I hear. Even got them in pink, if you’re so inclined. They got all kinds of things you can buy with them Ducks on ’em. Shirts, and hats, and them little foam fingers. My grandson, he’s got a whole room full of that stuff. He’s a big fan, that one. He even tried to explain to me why they was wearin’ pink. Somethin’ about supportin’ the women, he said.
I reckon it’s a good thing, though. Gettin’ the word out about that cancer. The more folks know, the better, I always say. And if them football players can help, well, more power to ’em. They got all them people watchin’ ’em on the television. Maybe someone will see them pink uniforms and get themselves checked out. Could save a life, you never know.
My granddaughter, she says they got a whole store just for Oregon Ducks stuff. Can you believe that? A whole store! They got them Oregon Ducks jerseys, all different colors. Black ones, green ones, white ones, even these new pink ones. She said you can find them in that store. I told her I don’t need no pink football jersey. I got my stories to tell and that is enough.
I remember when that boy, he was wearin’ one of them Ducks shirts to school. Said it was his lucky shirt. He wore it every time they had a game. Bless his heart, he really believes in all that stuff. They even had these pink ones in the store to show support for the ladies. My grandson, he said he wanted one to support his grandma, me! Can you believe that? It is a good boy, I tell ya!
And they ain’t cheap, neither, them Oregon Ducks jerseys. Cost a pretty penny, I hear. But folks, they love them Ducks, so they buy ’em anyway. Especially them young folks. They’ll spend all their money on that stuff. I don’t understand it much, but I guess they do it for showin’ the team colors.
I seen them Oregon Ducks play on the television a few times. They’re fast, I’ll give ’em that. Runnin’ all over the field, like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off. But they sure do score a lot of points. And they always got them fancy uniforms on. Keeps things interestin’, I suppose. I wonder if they got any more of them pink uniforms planned.
They got these new ones, they call ’em “Generation O” or somethin’ like that. My grandson, he was tellin’ me all about it. Says they’re supposed to be special, like a tribute to the old days or somethin’. I don’t know, I think they all look kinda the same to me. But he was excited about it, so that’s all that matters, I guess. They should make more of them pink ones though, for the ladies.
- They got all kinds of Oregon Ducks stuff in that store.
- Shirts, hats, you name it.
- Even them pink things for the cancer awareness.
Well, I reckon that’s all I got to say about them Oregon Ducks and their pink uniforms. It’s somethin’ different, that’s for sure. And if it helps folks, then I’m all for it. Just hope they don’t start wearin’ pink all the time. Might be hard to tell who’s who on that field! But I guess them young folks, they know what they’re doin’. They always got somethin’ new cookin’ up. I hope they win more games, though. My grandson gets sad when they lose.
