Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this Oregon head coach, ya know? Folks been talkin’ and talkin’, the whole town’s buzzin’ like a beehive.
Oregon Head Coach Sticking Around, They Say
Heard tell some big shot coach over at Alabama, Nick somethin’-or-other, quit his job. Yeah, retired, they call it. Anyways, soon as that happened, everyone started pointin’ fingers at our coach. Said he’d be runnin’ off to Alabama quicker than a chicken with its head cut off.
- But guess what? Our coach, he ain’t goin’ nowhere.
- He stood up tall, like a sturdy oak tree, and said, “I ain’t leavin’ Oregon. This is my home now.”
- Made me proud, I tell ya. A man of his word, that’s what he is.
Now, they say this here coachin’ job in Oregon is a good one. Real good. Folks want it, I guess. Must pay a whole heap of money, or somethin’. I don’t know nothin’ about that fancy stuff. But I do know they were talkin’ about buyin’ him out of his contract. Millions of dollars, they said! Enough to buy a whole farm, and then some. But our coach, he didn’t budge. Said money ain’t everything. Said he’s got a family here, a young’un he’s gotta see through school. That’s right, family first. That’s how it should be.
This Coach, He’s Got Grit
And it ain’t just about the football, you see. This here coach, he’s got a heart of gold, I tell ya. His wife, bless her soul, she got sick. Real sick. Cancer, they called it. A scary word, that one. But that coach, he stood by her side, strong as a rock. They fought it together, him and his wife. And you know what? She’s doin’ alright now. A fighter, just like him. It’s a tough road, cancer is. But they faced it head-on, like a couple of stubborn mules pullin’ a heavy cart up a steep hill. That’s the kind of folks they are. Good, honest folks. And that’s why we love ’em here in Oregon.
They were talkin’ on the TV the other day, about how much it would cost to get our coach to leave. Said it was a whole bunch of money. Millions and millions. But our coach, he just laughed it off. Said somethin’ about how he made a promise. A promise to the team, to the town, to his family. And a promise, well, a promise is a promise. You don’t go breakin’ your word, no sir. Not if you’re a decent human bein’.
Oregon’s Lucky to Have Him, I Reckon
So, all them folks who thought our coach was gonna jump ship, they were wrong. Dead wrong. He’s stayin’ right here in Oregon, where he belongs. He’s buildin’ somethin’ special here, you can feel it in the air. It’s like when you plant a seed and watch it grow into a strong, healthy plant. That’s what he’s doin’ with this football team. He’s nurturin’ them, teachin’ them, makin’ them better. And he’s doin’ it with his whole heart.
I’ve seen coaches come and go, you know. Some good, some bad, some just plain forgettable. But this one, he’s different. He’s got somethin’ special. He’s got that fire in his belly, that determination in his eyes. He’s a leader, a fighter, and a good man. And Oregon, well, we’re lucky to have him, I reckon. He’s one of us now. Part of the family. And he ain’t goin’ anywhere. Not for all the money in the world. And that’s somethin’ worth celebratin’, don’t ya think?
So let them other teams and those big money fellas keep on lookin’. Our coach is home, and that’s all that matters. He made a promise and he’s gonna stick to it like glue. He’s building something in Eugene and its got to be good for the young people. Good for the soul. Just like it was supposed to be. Ain’t that something to look forward too? You bet ya its something.
Future’s Lookin’ Bright, Real Bright
And the kids? They are doing well and happy with all this business settled and they can move on and pay attention to the games! That’s what the people tell me down at the store anyway. And you know folks down at the store always know more than the rest of us.
Now, I don’t know much about this football stuff, but even I can see that this fella, this coach, he’s somethin’ special. He’s got that somethin’ you can’t put your finger on, that somethin’ that makes people believe in him. And I tell ya what, that’s more valuable than all the money in the world. So here’s to our coach, may he stay in Oregon for many years to come, and may he lead our team to victory, on and off the field. God bless him.
