Alright, let’s talk about that soccer game, the one with PSG and that Newcastle team. I watched it, you know, the whole thing. Folks were yellin’ and screamin’, couldn’t hardly hear myself think!
First off, that Newcastle goalie, Nick Pope, he was somethin’ else. That fella was stoppin’ balls left and right. Reminded me of my old rooster, always snatchin’ up the corn kernels before the other chickens could get ’em. He’s a quick one, that Pope. I’d give him a good 9 out of 10, maybe even a 9 and a half if I was feelin’ generous.
Then there’s that Miggy Almiron fella. Now, he runs like a scalded dog, I tell ya! Fast as lightning, that one. Scored a goal too, didn’t he? Good for him. He put in a good shift, like we used to say back on the farm when we were haulin’ hay. I’d give him an 8, solid 8.
- PSG, though, they were a bit of a mess, weren’t they? All that fancy footwork and not much to show for it.
- That Mbappe fella, he’s supposed to be some kinda superstar, but Pope kept him quiet most of the night.
- He’s quick, I’ll give him that, but he needs to learn to shoot straight, like my cousin Jebediah shootin’ squirrels.
I’d give Mbappe a 6, maybe a 7 if he’d scored. But he didn’t, so 6 it is.
The rest of them Newcastle boys, they played their hearts out too. Felt like a real team effort, you know? Like when we used to have those barn raisings, everyone pitchin’ in to get the job done. They defended well, passed the ball alright, and scored some goals. Can’t ask for much more than that, can ya?
Now, PSG, they got some good players, I reckon. But they didn’t play like a team. Too much showboatin’, not enough teamwork. Reminded me of those city slickers tryin’ to sell us that fancy fertilizer, all talk and no results. They need to learn to work together, like a good ol’ fashioned quilting bee. Everyone got to do their part.
The final score, 4-1 to Newcastle, right? That’s a whoppin’, that is. Didn’t see that comin’, not against a team like PSG. But that’s soccer for ya, unpredictable as the weather. One day it’s sunshine, the next it’s pourin’ rain. Newcastle, they had the sunshine on their side that night, I reckon.
So, overall, Newcastle played good, PSG played not so good. Pope was the star of the show, Almiron was a close second. And Mbappe? Well, he needs to go back to school, learn how to kick a ball proper. That’s my two cents, anyway. Take it or leave it.
Now, I hear they played another game, a rematch or somethin’. This time in Paris. Heard it wasn’t as good for Newcastle. PSG won that one, 1-1 and then they scored more penalties, or whatever. That’s a shame. Can’t win ‘em all, I guess. That Mbappe fella, he scored a penalty this time, I heard. Good for him, I suppose. Still think Pope’s the better player, though.
Anyways, that’s all I got to say about that soccer game. It was excitin’, that’s for sure. And Newcastle, they done good, real good. Made this old lady proud, even though I don’t know a thing about soccer, really. Just know what I see, and I saw a good team winnin’ a game. And that’s always a good thing, ain’t it?
Player Ratings Summary:
- Newcastle:
- Nick Pope: 9/10 – Saved everything thrown at him, like a cat catching mice.

- Other Newcastle Players: Solid performance, worked like a team. – 7.5/10
- PSG:
- Kylian Mbappe: 6/10 – Fast but not effective enough, needs to shoot better.
- Other PSG Players: Didn’t play as a team, too much showboating. – 6/10
Final Thoughts: Newcastle was the better team on that first night. They played with heart and determination, like a bunch of farmers protectin’ their crops from crows. PSG, they need to learn to work together and be more consistent. And that Pope fella, he’s a keeper, that’s for sure.
