Okay, so today I was stumped by a crossword clue: “quarry.” I mean, I thought I knew what a quarry was – a place where they dig up rocks, right? But the crossword needed a specific number of letters, and my brain just blanked.

First, I stared at the empty squares. Then stared some more. Nothing. My usual go-to strategy of guessing random words related to rocks was failing miserably. “Stone”? Nope. “Gravel”? Too long. “Dig”? Way too short.
So, I grabbed my phone. Time for some online help. I typed in “quarry crossword clue” into the search bar. A bunch of those crossword solver websites popped up.
I clicked on the first one, and there it was! A whole list of possible answers, sorted by the number of letters. I scanned the list for the one that fit my puzzle…and Bingo!
- Hunted
- Victim
- Hunted animal
It had list that quarry could be an animal or a human.
I filled it in, and boom, the whole section of the crossword started to make sense. It’s funny how one little word can hold you up, but with a bit of digital assistance, I was back on track.
From start get the crossword, to use phone and search on website, find and fill the word. Finally I did it!
