Okay, so I was just scrolling through my usual stuff online this morning, you know, checking out what’s happening in the sports world. Didn’t expect much, just the usual routine.

Then, bam! I saw a post mentioning Magic Johnson and Darvin Ham. My first thought was, “Huh? What’s Magic got to say now?” He’s always got opinions, especially about the Lakers, obviously.
Turns out, Magic was actually congratulating Darvin Ham. Congratulating him for landing a new gig. And where? With the Milwaukee Bucks. That caught my attention.
My Initial Reaction
Honestly, I paused for a second. Ham just got let go by the Lakers, which everyone knows was a tough spot. Seeing Magic, a Lakers legend, give him a shoutout for joining another team… well, it felt kinda classy, you know? Shows some respect despite how things ended in LA.
So, I dug a little deeper. Just did a quick search to confirm. Yep, Ham’s joining Doc Rivers’ coaching staff in Milwaukee. Makes sense. He’s got championship experience as an assistant and obviously knows the game.
Thinking it Through
It got me thinking about the whole coaching carousel in the NBA. It moves fast, man. One minute you’re out, the next you’ve got a new opportunity.
- I remembered Ham’s time starting with the Lakers, the initial hope.
- Then thinking about the pressure cooker that job is.
- Now he lands on his feet with a contender in the East. Good for him.
And seeing Magic publicly wish him well felt… right. Like, okay, the Lakers chapter is closed, but the guy still deserves respect for his work and his next step. It’s a small thing, just a social media post, but it stood out to me today.
So yeah, that was my little discovery this morning. Just watching the pieces move around the league map. Always interesting to see where guys end up and how the community reacts. Happy to see Ham get another shot, especially with a team like the Bucks.
