Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get Rory McIlroy’s autograph for a while now. He’s, like, one of my favorite golfers. So, I started looking into how to actually make this happen.

My Plan of Attack
First, I figured out where he might be playing. I checked the PGA Tour schedule and saw he was going to be at a tournament not too far from me.
I thought that would be my best shot, so I got tickets for the practice round, figuring there would be fewer crowds.
The Day Of
- I got to the course super early. I mean, really early.
- I brought a nice, clean golf ball and a brand-new Sharpie. I read online that those work best.
- I positioned myself near the practice green, hoping he’d walk by.
I waited… and waited… It felt like forever! Other golfers walked by, and I even got a couple of other autographs, which was cool, but still no Rory.
Showtime!
Then, I saw him! He was walking over to the practice area. I got my ball and Sharpie ready, my hands were actually shaking a little.
As he got closer, I politely asked, “Mr. McIlroy, could you please sign my ball?” He smiled and said, “Sure!”
Success!
He took the ball and Sharpie, signed it, and handed it back. I thanked him, probably a little too enthusiastically, and he moved on.
I looked at the ball – there it was, Rory McIlroy’s autograph! I was so stoked! It was definitely worth the wait and the early morning.
So, that’s how I got Rory McIlroy’s autograph. My main advice? Be prepared, be patient, and be polite. It worked for me!
