Alright, folks, let’s talk about that Ronda Rousey book tour I hit up. I’ve always been a huge fan of Ronda, not just as a fighter but as a person, you know? So when I heard she was doing a tour for her new memoir, “Our Fight,” I knew I had to be there.
First things first, getting the tickets was a whole mission in itself. I set like five alarms to make sure I was online the second they dropped. Thank god I did, ’cause those things sold out faster than you can say “armbar.” I snagged two, one for me and one for my buddy who’s as big of a Rousey fan as I am. He was pretty damn happy when I told him about it, no lie, almost cried.
The day of the event finally rolls around, and I’m buzzing with excitement. We get to the venue, and it’s packed. You could feel the energy in the air, everyone’s pumped to see Ronda. We find our seats, and not long after, the lights dim and out walks the Rowdy one herself.
She starts talking about her life, her struggles, and her journey to the top. It’s raw, it’s real, it’s Ronda. She doesn’t sugarcoat anything, which I respect. She talks about the concussions she suffered during her judo days, which she mentioned in some Instagram Live, and how that played into her decision to step away from MMA. Hearing that firsthand was a real eye-opener. It’s crazy to think about how much these athletes put their bodies through.
She also dives into her diet and training. I remember reading somewhere that she follows some kind of mix between a warrior diet and a Paleo diet. She confirmed it, saying she eats once a day, at night, like intermittent fasting. But she eats until she’s full, eats as much as she wants. And she keeps it real basic, nothing you wouldn’t find 10,000 years ago. It’s wild, but hey, it works for her.
The whole event was just inspiring. I mean, here’s this woman who’s been through hell and back, and she’s standing there, sharing her story with all of us. And she kept repeating these words, I’ll never forget, she said, “You have to fight because you can’t count on anyone else fighting for you. And you have to fight for people who can’t fight for themselves. To get anything of real value, you have to fight for it.” God, that hit me hard. It’s like, yeah, life’s tough, but you gotta keep pushing, keep fighting for what you want.
After the talk, there was a Q&A session. People were asking all sorts of things, about her career, her life, what’s next for her. She answered everything with such honesty and grace. And she also talked a little about her other ventures since January 2022. It’s clear she’s not slowing down anytime soon.
Then came the book signing. The line was crazy long, but I didn’t even care. I was gonna get my book signed by Ronda Rousey, no matter what. Finally, it’s my turn. I walk up, and there she is, smiling. We chat for a bit, I tell her how much she’s inspired me, and she signs my book. It was a quick moment, but one I’ll never forget.
Leaving the venue, I felt this sense of motivation, like I could take on anything. Ronda’s story, her words, they really resonated with me. It’s a reminder that life’s a fight, but it’s a fight worth having. And if you ever get a chance to see her on tour, trust me, do it. Oh, and I found out that they have this 24/7 customer service thing to help if your plans change. Good stuff.
- You go there,
- you hear her story,
- and you walk away a better person.
That’s the Ronda Rousey effect, folks.
And as for her saying about fighting, man, that’s going to stick with me forever.
