So, I was messing around with Skyrim again, right? This time, I got into this mod called “Dealing with Backstories.” It’s supposed to let you, like, really get into your character’s background. Sounds cool, yeah?
First thing I did was fire up the Nexus Mod Manager. Gotta get that mod installed, you know? It was pretty easy, just a few clicks and bam, mod’s in. The mod manager took care of everything for me as usual.
Then I launched Skyrim. Once I started a new game, I noticed these two new powers: “Forget Your Past” and “Remember Your Past.” Seems like “Forget Your Past” is for wiping the slate clean and “Remember Your Past” is for building your story. I felt like I was going to have a good time!
I experimented a bit with “Remember Your Past.” There are a bunch of options in there to choose from. You can pick where you’re from, what your childhood was like, what kind of skills you picked up growing up. It’s like building a whole life story before you even start adventuring. It was a bit overwhelming, to be honest.
I spent a good chunk of time just playing around with the different options. Made a few characters, tried out a few different backstories. One was an orphan who grew up on the streets, another was a noble kid who ran away from home. It really changes how you think about your character.
There’s also this thing where the mod changes a script or something. I didn’t really mess with that too much, but apparently it’s to make sure you don’t lose all your stuff when you use “Remember Your Past.” That’s kind of important, haha.
Here’s what I learned:
- Installing the mod is super easy with the Nexus Mod Manager.
- “Forget Your Past” clears your powers, “Remember Your Past” lets you build your story.
- There are tons of options to customize your backstory.
- The mod changes a script to keep your inventory safe when you use “Remember Your Past”.
Honestly, this “Dealing with Backstories” mod is pretty neat if you’re into roleplaying. It adds a whole new layer to the game. But be prepared to spend some time figuring it all out, because there’s a lot to it. It forces you to think more creatively and provides you with a unique gaming experience.
I will definitely play around with it some more. Might even try to create a really messed up backstory, just to see what happens. Maybe a guy who used to be a chicken farmer but then got struck by lightning and now thinks he’s a dragon or something. Who knows, you should have a try!
