Alright, alright, let’s talk about this Devin Singletary fella, the football player, ya know? Folks call him “Motor,” like a car engine or somethin’. I guess he runs fast. He was born in 1997, September 3rd, if you care about that kinda stuff. I don’t, but some folks do.
Now, I hear people arguin’ all the time, should you start him in your fantasy football team or not? Fantasy football, that’s somethin’ else, ain’t it? People gettin’ all worked up over pretend games. Anyway, they say he’s kinda like that Najee Harris fella, another one runnin’ with the ball. But who’s better? That’s the question.
I ain’t no expert, mind you. I just watch the games sometimes when the grandkids are over. They yell at the TV, somethin’ about “points” and “yards.” Sounds complicated. But from what I gather, this Singletary guy, he gets the ball and tries to run real far. And sometimes he does, and sometimes he don’t. That’s football for ya.
- He runs fast, they say. That’s good, I guess.
- He catches the ball sometimes too. That’s also good, I reckon.
- But sometimes he don’t run so far, and sometimes he drops the ball. That’s bad, I figure.
So, should you start him? Well, that depends, don’t it? Like, who else you got on your team? Is he playin’ against a bunch of big ol’ fellas who can tackle real good? These “experts,” they got all sorts of numbers and stats, but honestly, it’s all a gamble to me. Like plantin’ corn, sometimes it grows tall and strong, sometimes it don’t. Same with these football fellas.
They got these websites, these “start pages” they call ‘em, where you can look up all this information. They tell you the scores, the odds, all that fancy stuff. I don’t even know how to turn on a computer, let alone find one of those things. My grandkid showed me once, but it was too fast for me. Too many buttons and words.
And speakin’ of startin’ things, I heard somethin’ about unemployment benefits the other day on the radio. Said you gotta apply for them in the first week you lose your job. Takes a long time to get the money, though, three or four weeks they said. Imagine waitin’ that long when you ain’t got no money to buy groceries! That’s tough, real tough. It ain’t got nothin’ to do with football, I know, but it’s about “startin’” somethin’, just like startin’ this Singletary fella in your game.
Back to football, though. I guess if you wanna know if you should start Singletary, you gotta do your research. Look at them scores, them stats, all that stuff on the computer or your phone, if you got one of them fancy things. Ask your friends, ask your neighbors, ask the fella at the grocery store. Everybody’s got an opinion, that’s for sure.
Me? I say go with your gut. If you think Singletary’s gonna have a good game, then start him. If you don’t, then don’t. It ain’t the end of the world if you lose your fantasy football game, is it? There’s more important things in life, like family, and good food, and a warm place to sleep. This football stuff, it’s just a game. But I guess it’s fun for some folks, so you do what you think is best.
And remember, even if this Singletary fella has a bad game, it don’t mean he’s a bad person. He’s just out there tryin’ his best, just like the rest of us. And that’s all you can ask for, ain’t it?
