Alright, so, I was playing Baldur’s Gate 3 the other day, just minding my own business, exploring some old ruins or whatever. Everything was fine, blasting goblins, looting chests, you know, the usual. Then, I went through this loading screen into a new area, and boom – my whole interface just vanished. Gone. Poof.
I was like, “What the heck just happened?” I mean, one minute I’m staring at my health bar, my skills, all that stuff, and the next, it’s all gone. No map, no action buttons, nothing. I was totally lost. I thought I accidentally pressed some weird key or something, so I started mashing buttons like a crazy person. F10, Ctrl, Shift, Alt, you name it, I pressed it. Nothing worked.
Then I remembered reading something about a bug that made the UI disappear, so I tried a few things people suggested online. First, I did the good old “quicksave and reload” routine. Hit F5 to save, then F8 to load. Still nothing. Interface was still playing hide-and-seek with me.
Next, I went full drastic and uninstalled the whole game. Yeah, I went there. I figured, maybe something got corrupted, who knows. So, I uninstalled it, re-downloaded the entire thing, which, by the way, took forever.
Started the game back up, loaded my save, and guess what? Still no interface. At this point, I was ready to throw my computer out the window. But then, I stumbled upon this one forum post, and it mentioned something about a character called Lae’zel and some Githyanki thing. Apparently, there was this weird bug related to them that could make the UI disappear, especially during combat, but also outside it.
I didn’t even know what a Githyanki was, but I was desperate. So, I tried another thing from the post, which was pressing Ctrl+Shift+C. And you know what? It worked. The interface popped back up like it had never left. I swear, I almost cried tears of joy.
So, yeah, that’s my story of the disappearing Baldur’s Gate 3 interface. If you ever run into this issue, don’t panic. Try the Ctrl+Shift+C thing first, and maybe avoid those Githyanki folks if you can. Trust me, it’s a lifesaver.
