Okay, so I stumbled upon this “Sydney Hightower” thing, and let me tell you, it turned into a whole afternoon project. I figured, why not document the whole messy process? Maybe someone else will find this useful, or at least get a good laugh out of my struggles.
Getting Started
First, I had to figure out what I even wanted to do with “Sydney Hightower”. I did some digging, you know, the usual poking around online. I found a few interesting repos, and I was like, “Okay, I guess I’ll try setting something up.” It was all a bit vague, to be honest.
The Setup Struggle
The initial setup? Not exactly a walk in the park. I’m pretty sure I spent a solid hour just trying to get the basic dependencies installed. I kept running into these weird error messages, and honestly, half the time I had no clue what they meant. Lots of copy-pasting commands from various forums and hoping for the best. That’s my pro-tip: just keep throwing stuff at the wall until something sticks.
I remember one specific moment where I thought I’d completely broken my system. My terminal was just spewing red text, and I was starting to panic. Turns out, I’d just missed a single character in a command. Classic me.
Making (Some) Progress
-
Eventually, after much trial and error (and a few curse words), I managed to get something running. It wasn’t pretty, but it was working! I think.
-
I changed up the config file.
-
Then run it, and pray it worked, hahaha.
The (Kinda) Finished Product
Okay, so “finished” is a strong word. It’s more like… “functional-ish.” I mean, it does something. It’s not exactly what I envisioned when I started, but hey, I learned a lot along the way. I can definitely see the potential, though. With a bit more tweaking (and maybe a lot more Googling), I think I could actually make this thing useful.
The main takeaway? Don’t be afraid to just dive in and mess around. You’ll probably break things, you’ll definitely get frustrated, but you’ll also learn a ton. And who knows, you might even end up with something cool (or at least cool-ish) in the end. And if you ever start that you broke everything, that’s maybe because you should take a break and drink some water, just kidding, I know we like to keep going!
And that’s pretty my journey for setting up “Sydney Hightower”, hope you find this helpful!
