Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to get a Ted Williams signed baseball for, like, ever. He’s a total legend, you know? “The Splendid Splinter,” last guy to hit over .400… the whole deal. I finally decided to go for it.

First, I started poking around online. I figured there’d be a ton of options, and there were, maybe too many!
- Some were super expensive.
- Others looked kind of sketchy.
Authentication
I needed to find something real. I did not want a fake signature. I dug into some articles and websites about spotting fakes. I learned about things like the type of pen used, the pressure of the signature, and how Williams’ signature evolved over time. It was a lot to take in!
I focused on sellers that had good reputations and offered some kind of authentication. The word “JSA” (James Spence Authentication) kept popping up, and so did “PSA/DNA” (Professional Sports Authenticator).
I found a few balls that looked promising, all with JSA or PSA/DNA certification. This means they’d been examined by experts and deemed legit. That made me feel way better. It’s like having a little certificate of authenticity that says, “Yep, this is the real deal!”
Making a Choice
I compared a few different options. Some had just the signature, others had inscriptions like “HOF ’66” (Hall of Fame 1966). The prices varied a lot depending on the condition of the ball and the extra writing.
After a lot of back-and-forth, I picked one that was in great shape, had a clear signature, and came with that all-important JSA authentication. I paid, crossed my fingers, and waited.
It arrives!
A few days later, a package showed up. I opened it up carefully, and there it was! The ball looked amazing. The signature was bold and clear, and it just felt… special. Holding a piece of baseball history like that is pretty awesome.
I put it in a protective case right away. I don’t want anything happening to this thing! Now I just need to find the perfect spot to display it.

It was a bit of a process, sure, but totally worth it. I learned a lot along the way, and now I’ve got an amazing piece of memorabilia that I’ll treasure for years to come.
