Okay, so I saw this “Shadow of Intent controversy” thing blowing up and, honestly, I was curious. I’m a big fan of the band, so I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. First thing I did was hit up Google. Just typed in “Shadow of Intent controversy” and, boom, tons of stuff popped up.
Mostly, it seemed to be centered around their former vocalist, Alex Terrible. I knew he’d left the band, but I didn’t realize there was drama attached. So, I started digging through forum posts and Reddit threads. Man, it was a rabbit hole. People were throwing around all sorts of accusations and opinions.
Here’s what I gathered, and I tried to stick to the most, you know, reliable sources I could find.
- Some fans were upset about Alex’s departure, and they weren’t happy with the way the band handled it. There were some comments on social media from band that some thought were disrespectful to Alex.
- I saw a few rumblings about some old stuff, something about Alex’s other project. This was from older posts, though, and I couldn’t find anything recent of substance.
- There were fans that were super upset and were sharing their feelings about Ben Duerr(the bands new vocalist). They stated that he was a fake and fraud.
I spent a good couple of hours just reading through everything. Then I went and listened to some of Shadow of Intent’s newer stuff, and some of Alex’s other work, just to see if I could hear anything that might relate to the drama. Nothing jumped out at me, musically.
Then I checked out the band’s social media pages – Facebook, Instagram, that kind of thing. I wanted to see if they’d made any official statements. I scrolled through a bunch of posts, looking for anything related to the controversy. Found a few comments from fans, some supportive, some angry, but nothing really concrete from the band itself addressing the specifics.
I figured I should probably check out some interviews with the band members, too. So I searched for recent interviews on YouTube and a few other video sites. Watched a couple, but they mostly focused on the new music, not the drama.
