Okay, here is my sharing about “Alvin Burke Jr”:
So, I heard about this guy, Alvin Burke Jr., who apparently did something crazy back in the day. I got curious and started digging around to find out what this dude actually did. Turns out, back in 1994, this old-timer, who was 73 years old then, decided to go on a road trip. But get this, he did it on a lawnmower!
Yeah, you heard that right, a lawnmower. His name was Alvin Straight, and he traveled 240 miles from a place called Laurens in Iowa to Blue River. I don’t know exactly where those places are, but it sounds like a long way to go on a lawnmower. I started imagining this old guy cruising down the highway on his little mower, probably with a trail of cars backed up behind him. I guess there were not so many cars at that time.
I found a movie called “The Straight Story”, which I figured was about him. It was made by a director named Lynch, and people seemed to like it. No sex or violence, just a simple story about this guy’s journey. I might check it out sometime.
- Started: I began by searching for “Alvin Burke Jr.” online.
- Found: Discovered the story of Alvin Straight and his lawnmower trip.
- Dug Deeper: Learned about “The Straight Story” movie based on his journey.
- Got Interested: Became intrigued by the simplicity and uniqueness of the story.
- Planned: Decided to watch the movie sometime to learn more.
Then I got sidetracked, as usual. I stumbled upon some random stuff like a stressed-out talk show host named Bob Hope going on vacation and playing Sherlock Holmes. Then there was something about a guy planning to blow up a missile fuel plant. It looked like many people put different subtitles on the video, like 7 Minutes of Hell or 5 Minutes in Hell. The one I saw was called 6 Hours in Hell. And a movie or something about a haunted house and a novelist who meets a strangler. That’s pretty creepy, to be honest.
Finally, I saw something about a movie called “Sing Sing”, and how you can buy tickets for it on Fandango. I don’t know what it’s about, but the name “Sing Sing” sounds familiar. Probably a prison or something. Anyway, that’s how I spent my day, bouncing from one random thing to another. It all started with Alvin Burke Jr., who I now know is actually Alvin Straight, the lawnmower guy. It was a weird journey, but hey, that’s the internet for you.
I have to say, I really enjoy the feeling of digging out a story. I always tell myself, I gotta put all these things I learned today on my blog. But I never really find the time to make it happen. Today is different, and I finally make it. This makes me feel so great!
