Okay, here’s the story of how I got involved with Maya Daniels and Maverick McNealy. You won’t believe how crazy this whole thing was.
So, last year, I heard that this pro golfer, Maverick McNealy, had a pretty bad shoulder injury. I mean, the guy tore his anterior sterno-clavicular ligament during the 2022 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am. Ouch! That’s gotta hurt. Anyway, I started following his recovery because, you know, I’m a bit of a golf nerd.
That’s when I stumbled upon Maya Daniels. Turns out, she worked at the place where Maverick was doing his physical therapy. Can you believe it? They met while he was trying to fix his messed-up shoulder. Sounds like the start of a romantic movie, right?
I started digging a little more, and guess what? They eloped last December! Yeah, just up and got married on December 6th. Maya made it official on Instagram on January 6th, 2024, so it’s all out in the open now.
At first, I was like, “Who is this Maya chick?” But the more I read, the more I realized she was a big part of Maverick’s recovery. He even said she helped him get his head straight and become a better player. That’s pretty awesome if you ask me.
Then I found out that Maverick changed his whole golf swing because of the injury. He had to make sure he wasn’t putting too much stress on his shoulder. That’s some serious dedication. And Maya was there for all of it.

- I saw this one of them after the RSM Classic – they looked so happy.
- I was getting really into their whole story.
I even read somewhere that Maverick hired his brother, Scout, to be his caddie. Apparently, family is super important to him. It seems like Maverick has a really great support system.
Maverick McNealy, a 27-year-old Stanford graduate, announced on Instagram that he is engaged to Maya Daniels. McNealy, who previously dated LPGA star Danielle Kang. I was shocked!
Anyway, that’s how I ended up following the whole Maya Daniels and Maverick McNealy saga. It’s a pretty cool story of love, recovery, and golf. I’m definitely keeping an eye on these two – I have a feeling we’ll be hearing a lot more about them in the future.
Oh, and I checked, Maverick really is his real name. Apparently, his brothers are named Dakota, Colt, and Scout. Their parents must have had a thing for interesting names.
