Alright, let’s gab about this Fernando Tatis Jr. baseball card thing. Folks are makin’ a fuss, so I figured I’d chime in.
What’s the big deal with this Fernando Tatis Jr. fella anyway?
Well, from what I hear, this young’un is a pretty good baseball player. Plays for the Padres, you know, that team down south. They say he’s a whiz in the field, catches balls real good. Someone told me he even won some kinda fancy glove award, a “Platinum” one at that. Sounds mighty impressive, though I ain’t never seen a glove made outta platinum. Must be awful heavy!
Seems like he’s been doin’ this for a while now, got these things called “rookie cards” floatin’ around. Like pictures of him when he was just a young sprout in the big leagues. People are collectin’ ‘em like they’re gold or somethin’.
Them fancy cards, what are they all about?
- 2019 National Treasures Rookie Patch Auto Card Gold/10: Now this one’s a mouthful, ain’t it? Got a picture of the boy and a piece of his shirt, they call it a “patch.” Sounds like somethin’ you’d sew on a quilt, but hey, what do I know? They say it’s real rare, only a few of ‘em made. Folks are payin’ big money for it, more than I make in a year, I reckon.
- 2019 Panini Immaculate Collection RPA RC: Another one with them patches. This one’s got a few different pieces, I hear. Vertical, they say. Means it’s taller than it is wide, like a door, not a window. Got Tatis’s picture on it too, of course. Lots of different versions, which sounds mighty confusin’ to me.
- 2019 Topps Series 2 RC #410: This one’s different, they say. It’s sideways, like a picture of a landscape. Shows the boy throwin’ the ball, ready to whip it real hard. Topps, that’s a name I’ve heard before. Been makin’ these cards forever, I guess.
- 2019 Topps Clearly Authentic Auto: Now this one’s got the boy’s signature on it, his John Hancock, as they say. Seems like folks like that kinda thing. Topps again, see? They must be doin’ somethin’ right. This card, they say it’ll “boost” your collection. Like givin’ it a shot of vitamins, I suppose.
- 2016 Bowman Chrome: This one’s from way back, when he was even younger. He looks like a baby in the picture, barely old enough to shave. And get this, he’s wearin’ a White Sox uniform! Imagine that, played for a different team way back when. That makes it special, I guess, like a piece of history. A piece of baseball history, that is. I ain’t talkin’ ’bout no presidents or wars.
So, why are folks payin’ all this money for these cards?
Beats me, to be honest. Seems like a whole lotta fuss over some pieces of cardboard. But I guess that’s what hobbies are all about, ain’t it? People like collectin’ things, and if they think it’s worth somethin’, then who am I to judge?
Is this Fernando Tatis Jr. card a good investment?
Investment? Sounds like somethin’ them city folk talk about. Me? I invest in chickens and tomatoes, things you can eat. But these cards, they say they might go up in value. Like a good piece of land, I suppose. But then again, they might not. Seems like a gamble to me. And I ain’t much of a gambler, unless it’s playin’ bingo at the church social.
Should you go out and buy a Fernando Tatis Jr. baseball card?
Well, that’s up to you, ain’t it? If you got the money to spare and you like lookin’ at pictures of baseball players, then go for it. But don’t come cryin’ to me if it don’t make you rich. Me, I’ll stick to my garden and my chickens. They might not be worth much money, but they keep me fed and happy. And that’s more than I can say for some pieces of cardboard, no matter how fancy they are. Besides, that Tatis fella, he’s just a young’un, still got a lot to prove. Maybe he’ll be the next Babe Ruth, maybe he won’t. Only time will tell. So, you hold onto your money, unless you got plenty to throw around. Then, by all means, buy all the baseball cards you want. Just don’t expect this old woman to understand it!
Final words of wisdom about baseball cards.
Now, I may not know much about baseball cards, but I know a thing or two about life. And life’s too short to worry about things that don’t matter. If collecting these cards makes you happy, then go ahead and do it. But don’t let it consume you. There are more important things in life, like family, friends, and a good home-cooked meal. So, enjoy your hobbies, but don’t forget to enjoy the simple things too. That’s the real secret to a happy life, you know. Not how many fancy cards you got, but how much love you got in your heart.
So there you have it, my two cents on this Fernando Tatis Jr. baseball card hullabaloo. Probably more than you wanted to know, but I ain’t one to hold back my opinions. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I got chickens to feed and tomatoes to water. That’s real work, not this card-collectin’ business.
