Okay, let’s talk about this Jiyan team comp thing I’ve been messing with lately. It wasn’t like some grand plan, you know? I just saw a lot of chatter about Jiyan, how strong he could be, and figured I’d dip my toes in. Had him sitting there anyway, might as well put him to work.

Getting Started
So, first things first, I pulled up my character screen. Looked at Jiyan. Then I started thinking about who could actually support him properly. It’s not just about throwing strong characters together, right? They gotta work together, have that synergy stuff.
My initial thoughts were pretty basic:
- Need someone to group enemies, maybe? Jiyan’s attacks have some area, but tighter groups are always better.
- Definitely need healing or shielding. Jiyan’s right in the thick of it, takes hits.
- Energy is a big one. Gotta keep his big moves ready to go. So, someone who generates energy particles is key.
I grabbed a couple of characters I already had built up a bit – let’s call them Character A and Character B. Threw them into a team with Jiyan and went out to whack some low-level mobs to see how it felt. Felt… okay. Not great. Character A’s abilities felt a bit slow, didn’t quite line up with Jiyan’s burst window. Character B was alright for heals, but the energy generation wasn’t cutting it.
Trial and Error Phase
This is where the real “fun” started. Spent a good chunk of an evening swapping folks in and out. Put Character C in instead of A. Better grouping! Okay, progress. But the energy was still a bit of a mess. Jiyan was often sitting there waiting for his ultimate.
Then I swapped out Character B for Character D, who I knew was decent at generating energy. Now we were talking. The rotation felt smoother. Jiyan, C, D… seemed like a decent core. I ran a few harder domains with this setup. It worked, mostly. But sometimes, if I messed up the rotation or dodged poorly, things could go south fast. It felt a bit fragile.
It kinda reminds me of this time years ago, trying to get an old project car running. Had the engine, had the parts, but getting everything tuned just right? Took forever. Fiddling with the carburetor, checking the timing… change one thing, and something else goes out of whack. You think you fixed the fuel flow, but now it idles rough. Same feeling here. Get the energy right, now the survivability feels shaky. Get the grouping perfect, but the damage window feels too tight. Always something.
Refining the Setup
So, I wasn’t satisfied yet. Went back to the drawing board, looked closer at gear and timings. Big realization: I needed more specific stats on the support characters, not just their base kits. Focused on getting more energy recharge on Character D, and some better defensive stats on Character C without sacrificing their utility too much.
I also practiced the skill rotation. Like, really practiced. Made sure I knew exactly when to switch, when to use which skill to funnel energy into Jiyan right before his burst. It started to click. It wasn’t just about having the right characters; it was about playing them right, too.

Current State
Now, my Jiyan team is usually him, Character C, and Character D. It feels pretty coherent. Damage is good, energy is mostly consistent, and survivability is acceptable if I pay attention. It’s not perfect, mind you. There are probably better combinations out there, especially with characters I don’t have or haven’t built. But for what I’ve got, this setup puts in work.
Took a bit of elbow grease, some trial and error, and maybe a bit of that stubbornness I mentioned earlier. But yeah, that’s the process I went through. Just messing around, seeing what sticks, and slowly polishing it up. That’s half the fun anyway, right?
