Okay, so I was digging around online the other day, trying to find a decent map for the TPC Southwind course. You know, the one in Memphis where they have that big FedEx St. Jude Championship? I have a golf trip planned with my buddies, and I wanted to get a feel for the course beforehand.
I started by hitting up Google, just doing a basic search. I figured the official TPC website would have something, and I was right. Found some info there, but it was not very detailed. I needed more.
I ended up browsing a bunch of golf sites, some of those forum things, and even a couple of dedicated sports pages. I saw a bunch of different maps, some just basic layouts, others a bit more in-depth. One site would have a cool aerial view of one hole, but nothing for the next. Then I found another site that did have a hole-by-hole view, but no pictures, just some text, and it looked like it was made in 1997.
Then I remember hearing about this feature that shows you distances using GPS. “That’s what I really need,” I thought to myself. Back to Google I went, and finally, I stumbled upon this one site that combined everything.
Finally, A Good Map!
This site, man, it had it all! It was interactive, so I could click around and see each hole in detail. They had these awesome aerial views, like you’re flying over in a helicopter or something. Plus, it had that GPS distance thing I was looking for. Now I can see exactly how far it is to the green, how big the bunkers are, where the water hazards are – you name it. All very useful stuff.
I spent a good hour just clicking around on this map, virtually playing each hole in my head. It really gave me a feel for the course. I even started planning out my shots, you know, like which clubs I’d use on each hole. I am feeling pretty good now.
Here is what I found the most helpful, and probably what you guys would enjoy too:
- Interactive Map: Being able to click around and zoom in on each hole is a game-changer.
- Aerial Views: These are great for getting a real sense of the layout and the challenges of each hole.
- GPS Distances: Knowing the exact yardage is key.
- Hole-by-Hole Layout: Having a dedicated page for each hole, with all this info, is super helpful.
So yeah, that’s my little adventure in finding a good TPC Southwind course map. It took a bit of digging, but I finally found what I was looking for. Now, I’m even more pumped for this golf trip. I might even have a slight advantage over my buddies who haven’t done their homework! It is not a competition, but… you know.
