Alright, let’s talk about getting in touch with your agent in MLB The Show 23’s Road to the Show. When I first started playing this year, I kinda expected, you know, like a button somewhere, maybe in the menus, that just said “Call Agent.” Seemed logical, right? If I wanna discuss something, I should be able to just dial him up.
So, I spent a bit of time poking around. Went into the main RTTS hub, checked the ‘My Ballplayer’ section, looked through career objectives, all that stuff. Couldn’t find anything like a direct “call” option. It felt a little weird, honestly. I was thinking, how am I supposed to handle contract stuff or ask for a trade if I can’t even ring the guy?
Turns out, I was thinking about it the wrong way. After playing for a while, progressing through my season in Double-A, I realized the game handles it differently. You don’t really call your agent whenever you feel like it. It’s more like the game prompts you when it’s time to talk.
How It Actually Happened For Me
So, here’s what I experienced:
- I just kept playing games. Focusing on my performance, trying to get better stats.
- Then, at certain points in my career path, usually between series or maybe after a significant event (like getting close to the end of the season, or sometimes if trade rumors started flying around), a notification or a specific task would pop up on the main RTTS screen.
- It wasn’t hidden, usually pretty obvious. It would say something like “Agent Discussion” or “Talk to your Agent about your future.”
- When that happened, I just selected that option right from the hub screen.
- This didn’t trigger a phone call animation or anything fancy like that. It usually led straight into a conversation screen.
- On this screen, my agent would say something, and I’d get dialogue choices. Like, maybe he’d ask if I was happy with the team, or talk about upcoming contract stuff. My choices then influenced things moving forward.
So, the key thing I learned was patience. You just gotta play through your career. The opportunities to interact with your agent are built into the progression. They happen when the game decides it’s relevant – usually around contract time, potential trades, call-ups, or maybe even reacting to how well (or poorly) you’re playing.
I remember the first major one was near the end of my first full season, discussing where I saw myself next year. Then later, when my entry-level deal was ending, the agent interaction was all about negotiating the next contract.
So yeah, don’t waste time searching menus endlessly for a hidden “call” button like I did at first. Just play the game, keep an eye on your RTTS home screen between games or series, and when it’s time to talk business, the game will make it clear. It’s less about you calling him, and more about responding when he contacts you through the game’s prompts.
