Well, let me tell you somethin’ about this Urban Meyer fella. Folks been talkin’ a lot about him, and not all of it good, you hear? Seems like there’s been a whole heap of trouble followin’ him around, like a stray dog you can’t shake off.
What’s all this fuss about Urban Meyer cheatin’, you ask? Now, I ain’t no fancy lawyer or nothin’, but from what I gather, it’s a mess. They sayin’ he messed up bad, real bad.
- First off, there’s talk about him bein’ mean to some kicker fella, Josh Lambo. Kickin’ him and sayin’ nasty things. Sounds like somethin’ my old man woulda done after too much moonshine, but this fella’s supposed to be a big-shot coach. That ain’t right.
- Then there’s the stuff down in Jacksonville. He went down there to coach them Jaguars, but it didn’t last long. Folks sayin’ he was causin’ all sorts of problems in the locker room, fightin’ with his players and coaches. Sounded like a hen house with a fox in it, all squawkin’ and feathers flyin’.
- And don’t forget about that mess back in Ohio State. Somethin’ about a domestic assault and him not handlin’ it right. They suspended him for a few games, but that kinda thing sticks to ya, you know? Like mud on a new pair of boots.
Now, some folks say he’s a good coach, wins a lot of games. But winnin’ ain’t everything, I tell ya. You gotta treat folks right, be honest and fair. This Urban Meyer, seems like he forgot that somewhere along the way. He’s got that “spread option” offense, they call it. Spreadin’ folks out on the field, makin’ ’em run all over the place. Maybe he spread himself too thin, tryin’ to do too much and not payin’ attention to the important things.
His wife, she even said somethin’ about him makin’ mistakes. Said we all make mistakes, which is true enough. But some mistakes are bigger than others, and some mistakes keep happenin’ over and over again. That makes ya wonder, don’t it? Makes ya wonder if he really learned his lesson or if he’s just gonna keep on messin’ up.
This whole Urban Meyer cheating thing, it ain’t just about football, you see? It’s about bein’ a good person, treatin’ folks with respect. And from what I hear, this fella’s got a long way to go before he can call himself that.
They fired him from the Jaguars, and I reckon they had good reason. You can’t go around kickin’ folks and yellin’ at ’em and expect ’em to respect you. And you sure can’t go around ignorin’ serious problems and expect folks to trust you. Trust is like a good pair of work gloves; once you get a hole in ’em, they ain’t much use anymore.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ he’s a bad man through and through. But he’s done some bad things, and he needs to own up to ’em. He needs to apologize to the folks he hurt and try to make things right. And maybe, just maybe, he needs to step away from football for a while and figure out what’s really important in life. ‘Cause winnin’ games ain’t gonna mean a thing if you ain’t got no respect or trust.
So, that’s my take on this Urban Meyer fella. He’s a cheater in the sense that he cheated himself and everyone around him out of bein’ a better person. He cheated the game, too, by not actin’ with the integrity and respect it deserves. And that, in my book, is a bigger sin than anythin’ he did on the football field.
Remember, it ain’t just about the game; it’s about how you play it. And from what I can see, Urban Meyer played it dirty, and he’s gotta live with the consequences. Just like plantin’ weeds in the garden, you’re gonna reap what you sow, sure as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west.
