Okay, so yesterday, I decided to tackle this crossword puzzle, the “Viking group” one from the New York Times. You know, just to keep my brain ticking.
I started filling in the blanks, some were easy, some, not so much. This “Viking group” clue had me stumped for a while.
- First, I tried to think of actual Viking groups, like, you know, historical ones.
- Then I thought, maybe it’s a trick question?
- I even Googled “Viking group” to see if anything popped up, just got a bunch of history stuff.
I went through a lot of the other clues, made some progress. It seems like it was published around June 23, or maybe August 23. I am not really sure.
I was stuck on this puzzle for quite a while, and there are many different possibilities of what the answers might be. I found someone online mention that there could be 40 answers in total, and another guy said there might be 107 possibilities.
After staring at it for what felt like forever, I finally had a breakthrough. Remembered that Vikings were also a big deal in space exploration, right? And then it hit me. The answer was “NASA”.
NASA, like the space agency! Because they had a Viking program way back when, sending probes to Mars and stuff.
It felt so good to finally crack that clue. I mean, it’s just a crossword, but it’s a nice little victory, you know?
I’ve heard that the puzzle’s creator was David Kwong, and it was edited by a guy named Joel Fagliano. Pretty cool, right?
Anyway, just wanted to share my little crossword adventure. It’s amazing how these puzzles can take you on a little mental journey. It is published on December 15, 2024. You should check it out sometime!
Oh, and by the way, I also found out that this website I was using is pretty good for getting answers to crossword clues. I might have to bookmark that for next time.
This whole thing reminded me of when I first started doing crosswords. I used to get so frustrated, but now, it’s kind of relaxing, in a weird way. And hey, it keeps me from just scrolling through my phone all day. At least I am doing something productive, right?
The Lesson
The lesson of this crossword adventure is that sometimes it is fun to do these kinds of puzzles. Although it might seem frustrating at first, it will become easier as you continue to solve more problems.
