Hey everyone, I just had to share my latest little adventure with you all. So, I’ve been trying to get into the habit of doing the New York Times crossword puzzles. It’s a fun little challenge, right? Well, today’s puzzle had this clue that really got me scratching my head: “Wake-up calls.”
I started like I always do, just staring at the empty squares, feeling a bit lost. I tried filling in a few other clues first, you know, to get some momentum going. Sometimes that helps. I paced around my room, thinking about what could fit, but honestly, nothing was coming to mind. It was pretty frustrating, I won’t lie.
- First, I grabbed a pen and paper because I like to jot down ideas.
- Then, I started listing out words related to “wake-up calls.” Things like “alarm,” “morning,” “rise,” you get the idea.
- I even tried acting out what a wake-up call might be, which was pretty silly, but hey, you never know.
After a good while, I decided to look it up online. I found a few forums and websites where people discuss crossword clues. It felt a little like cheating, but I was really stuck, and I figured it’s all about learning, right?
Turns out, the answer is “REVEILLES.” Who knew, right? I definitely didn’t see that one coming. It’s a word I’ve heard before but never really used. It means a signal to wake up, especially in the military. That’s why I searched for this answer many times from July 14 to today. Pretty cool, huh?
So, I plugged that into the puzzle, and it fit perfectly! I managed to finish the rest of the crossword, and it felt pretty great. It’s amazing how one little clue can make such a difference.
What I Learned
This whole experience taught me a bit about perseverance and not being afraid to look for help when you need it. Plus, I learned a new word, which is always a bonus. I think I’ll keep doing these puzzles, even if they drive me crazy sometimes. It’s all part of the fun, I guess.
Anyone else here a fan of crosswords? Let me know if you’ve had any tricky clues lately. I’d love to hear about them!
