Okay, here’s my blog post about making a Jay Garrick shirt, just like you asked!

Alright folks, gather ’round! Today I’m gonna walk you through how I made my own Jay Garrick Flash shirt. You know, the OG Flash with the cool metal helmet? Yeah, that one. I’ve always been a huge fan, and I couldn’t find a decent shirt anywhere, so I figured, “Why not just make one myself?”
First things first, the shirt. I didn’t want some flimsy thing, so I went to my local craft store and picked out a plain red t-shirt. Make sure it’s 100% cotton, it takes the color a lot better! Cost me like 8 bucks, not bad at all.
Next up, the design. I wanted to keep it simple, the classic lightning bolt. I hopped online and found a high-res image of the Flash logo. Then, using some tracing paper, I printed the logo and traced it onto the paper. Don’t worry about making it perfect, little mistakes add character!
Now for the tricky part, getting the design onto the shirt. I grabbed some carbon paper (remember that stuff?) and placed it between the tracing paper and the shirt. Then, I went over the design again with a pen, pressing firmly. This transferred the lightning bolt onto the red fabric. If you mess up, don’t sweat it, it’s barely noticeable on red anyway.
Time to bring the color, i chose to use fabric paint. It will give you a solid color and is easy to manage. I used a brush, and filled in the lightning bolt, making sure to stay within the lines. I let it dry for a couple of hours. One coat was enough, but you might need two depending on your paint.
After the paint was dry, the final touch was ironing the shirt. This helps set the paint and makes it more durable. Just make sure to put a piece of cloth between the iron and the painted design, otherwise you’ll end up with a melted mess! Learned that the hard way on a different project, haha.
And that’s it! My very own Jay Garrick Flash shirt! I’ve worn it a bunch of times and always get compliments. It’s way better than anything I could’ve bought online. Plus, it was super cheap and fun to make. Give it a try yourself, you might surprise yourself with what you can create!
