Trying Out the Ping Tour Glove
Alright, so my old golf glove was pretty much done. You know how it gets – crusty, maybe a hole starting near the thumb. I was wandering around the golf shop, not really looking for anything specific, just browsing.

Then I saw the Ping Tour glove hanging there. Looked pretty slick, simple design, mostly white which I usually go for. I’d heard some decent things about Ping gear, obviously their clubs, but hadn’t tried their gloves before. Decided, what the heck, let’s give it a shot.
Picked up my size, felt the package. Standard cardboard and plastic thing. Got it home, ripped it open. First impression? The leather felt really soft. Like, noticeably softer than my last couple of gloves. It’s supposed to be Cabretta leather, and yeah, it felt premium right out of the pack. Smelled like proper leather too, which is always a good sign, right?
First Feel and Getting it On
Putting it on for the first time felt good. Snug, but not tight. You want that second-skin feel, and this was pretty close. The fit around the fingers and palm seemed right for my hand. The closure tab, the Velcro bit, felt secure. It wasn’t flimsy.
- Checked the stitching – looked solid. No loose threads.
- Flexed my hand a few times – moved well, didn’t feel restrictive.
- Gripped an imaginary club in the living room (we all do it) – felt tacky, like it would hold well.
Taking it to the Course
First real test was out on the range, then played 18 holes a couple of days later. Weather was decent, not too hot, not too cold.
Hitting balls, the glove performed great. The grip was fantastic. Didn’t feel any slipping at all, even when I was really trying to go after one. That soft leather really seemed to mold to my hand and the club grip after a few swings. Comfort was top-notch too. Played the whole round and honestly forgot I was wearing a new glove, which is probably the best compliment you can give one.
It breathed okay. My hand didn’t get overly sweaty, but it wasn’t a super hot day either. I’ll have to see how it holds up in the middle of summer. Durability-wise, after one round and a range session, it still looks brand new, which you’d expect. The real test is how it looks after 10 or 15 rounds.
One small thing I noticed, the perforation holes on the fingers seemed to do their job. Just felt like there was a bit of airflow.
Final Thoughts So Far
So, yeah, early days but I’m really liking this Ping Tour glove. It’s comfortable, gives me a great feel for the club, and the grip is secure. It just feels like a quality piece of kit. If it holds up reasonably well over the next few months, it might just become my go-to glove. Simple as that, really. Just wanted a reliable glove, and so far, this one’s delivering.
