Okay, so I was looking into the history of the football games between the University of Oregon and the University of Washington. You know, just for fun.
I started by searching for any info I could find online about the “Oregon–Washington football rivalry.” Found out some people call it the “Cascade Clash.” That’s a cool name, right?
Then I started digging deeper. I wanted to know how far back this rivalry goes. Turns out, it started way back in 1900. Can you believe that? Over a hundred years of these two teams battling it out on the field!
Next, I compiled all the game results I could find. I made this huge spreadsheet, it was kind of a mess at first, but it helped me see the big picture. I noticed that Washington was really strong from 1972 to 1993, but then Oregon took over from 1994 to 2015. The Ducks even won 12 games in a row from 2004 to 2015, which is pretty impressive, right?
- Analyzed the data to figure out who’s leading overall.
- Through 2023, Washington leads 63–48–5.
- Looked into any significant events or games.
- Found out about this one play in 1994 that apparently is super famous in Oregon football history, also against Washington!
And get this, there’s another rivalry called the “Civil War,” but that one is between the University of Oregon and Oregon State University. They’ve been playing against each other since way back in 1899!
So yeah, that’s what I did. I gathered all this information, organized it, and now I have a pretty good understanding of the history between these two teams. It was a lot of work, but pretty interesting to see how things have changed over the years!
It’s pretty wild to think about how long this rivalry has been going on. It’s like, a whole century of history, all wrapped up in these football games. You know what, I might even try to watch one of their games sometime. It would be cool to see this rivalry in action, after learning all about it. I think I’m becoming a fan now, haha!
Anyway, that’s my little project. I just wanted to share it with someone. Hope you found it as interesting as I did!
